I took the kids back to school shopping yesterday which was a total nightmare mainly because of DS2, but DS1 picked out shoes with laces even though he didn’t know how to tie his shoes (he’s 8 and I tried unsuccessfully to teach him a couple years ago, but hadn’t gotten around to trying again). We brought home the shoes. I showed him a couple methods and he went back to playing, and then this morning he got himself ready and came out of his room with his shoes on and his laces tied. I was so proud of him.

That's awesome!
My random is that my 8 year old wants a birthday party theme of "wolves howling at the moon." She has been taken in hook, line, and sinker by those Disney movies Zombies and Zombies 2.

DD has started PTing at daycare this week. Yesterday she pretty much held it in all day until nap and then refused to sit on the toilet at all when she got home. Hoping today goes better!
I think I'm too lazy for PTing. Give me all the diapers 😅 I have a feeling this will take a while

How old is your DD?
I wish my daycare would take the lead on PTing my kid. We did DD1 at 2y9m using the 3 day method and it was successful (although a lot of work/stressful). But DD1 was peeing on the potty occasionally already by then. DD2 is *so* stubborn and has gone twice and since refused. I don't want to push it, but I'm getting impatient as I am ready to be done with diapers. She's just shy of 3.

I’m glad you described that this is from a show because I was picturing:
we're going to start PTing E2 in the next week or so. eek! I already ordered some Tiny Undies even though they're more expensive because he is so skinny (he could still wear a size 2 diaper if it would actually hold all his pee, and he is 2y5m and about 23 pounds).
we did Oh Crap with E1 and it worked fantastically. He was fully PT by 2y4m except for naps and nighttime, pee and poop. FX for the same result. E2 is already asking for the potty. This morning, I was changing a poop diaper and he said he wanted to poop on the potty. I said it's a little late for that, you have to tell me BEFORE you poop!
I'm so overdue on signing my kids up for swim lessons. DD1 is 6 and she is very sensitive, so I didn't push it when she was younger. We tried other classes and she would cling to me and not participate or just cry the whole time. So I gave up. I planned to sign her up when she was 5, but covid. After swimming on vacation last week, she's actually asking for lessons which is awesome! Of course I just looked at the 2 swim schools that are near us and they are both fully booked. I'm so disappointed. I really want to put them both in lessons but I'm always too late. I had no idea the fall sessions starts on Aug 22. I feel like I suck as a mom. Everyone else I know has had their kids in swim lessons since they were babies.

Can you sign her up for private lessons to start? Those usually don’t have session dates.
My daughter had mild cold symptoms Sunday so I got her covid tested, and they said it would be a day. We're now on day two still waiting and I'm over it. She is of course all better at this point so I'm like 99.9% sure it was just a cold. She's been in school for two weeks so that typical starting school cold.
Also she's been waking up middle of the night to be tucked in, or go potty, or needs water. Idk what to do about it. If we don't go in she screams and screams, if we go in it's a two second thing and she goes right back to sleep. But lately I haven't been able to fall back to sleep so I've been up since 2am.
V was an absolute garbage fire this morning and then MAGICALLY transformed into being super well behaved and attentive for his tutor. Why can't they ever teach me their secrets!??!
(I know, secret #1 is "I'm his tutor, not his parent")

She's 2y5m. I was not exactly ready and don't think DD is yet, but the woman wants to PT DD and the other 2.5yo at the same time. I would have tried the 3 day method otherwise probably next month. Maybe I can still do that after she's been trying at daycare for a couple weeks?
DD is also going the stubborn route. Today she held all pee until nap and then used the diaper.
The 3-day/Oh Crap method ended up working fantastically for DD for pee. She's been potty trained for a month now for pee. No accidents in weeks. Tells us when she has to go, will sit on any toilet anywhere, etc. She's still going commando (no pull-ups/diapers at all while she's awake) but we are going to get her some underwear soon.
But poop is a disaster. She pooped on the potty three times early on, but has refused to do it for almost a month now. She holds her poop for her naptime/bedtime diaper. I've been told this is very common, but I don't know whether I should try to do something about it or just wait for her to grow out of it. We've tried bribes, rewards, sitting on the potty for like an hour and reading books, giving her privacy to go, letting her choose between the little potty or the big potty with kid seat, etc. - none of it makes a difference. She's almost 28 months if that matters.
Let her grow out of it, pushing her might backfire.
My youngest pooped in diaper for a while. I hated it! One day he pooped on the floor by mistake and was horrified. Screaming and pointing at like it was a poisonous snake (LOL). After that he pooped on the potty.

We kind of did this theme last year for my 9 year old. We took him to a wolf sanctuary for a full moon feeding tour and then we stayed the night at Great Wolf Lodge. He wants the same exact birthday this year. 😂. His favorite part was howling with the wolves at the end of the tour.

My kids also love those movies. They request that we howl when it's time for them to come back from the neighbor's house.
I’m annoyed about school supplies, lol. Dd’s teacher is requesting very specific, very random items that I didn’t know even existed. And of course they don’t have them in stock at target/staples/meijer/Walmart. And we just got the list today and school starts on Monday and none of this stuff is prime eligible. What’s wrong with normal pencil boxes and regular pencils!? Why do primary journals have to be a specific color if I’m only buying one!?! Why can’t you follow the generic school supply list that the school put out a month ago!? Why!?
