I have a lump in my throat and absolute anxiety over this. It is the worst flooding we have seen. 2010 Nashville flooding was not this bad. My cousin is safe, but trapped in her home. She has no way out due to the closed roads and washed away areas. Her home in intact and they have no damage. Just surrounded. A ranch hand was photoed while waiting for a rescue. The next photo was the building and him washing away. It’s haunting. I know people mean well, but sending materialistic items is not helpful. There is no where to store or distribute. If I find an organization looking for monetary donations I will share the link.

I'm so sorry mysteriouswife. Is she okay in her home with food and necessities for a little while at least, or will there be some sort of evacuation (via air I'm assuming?) in case there is still huge danger to her home?

She and her family have power and will recover fine. My aunt said there is no damage to their(cousin) home and water only came to their yard. The surrounding areas to her home are the ones that flooded. Also, she is in Dickson County. Minimal flooding compared to other areas.
There were tornados that also hit those areas late Saturday. I have not heard of any significant damage from those.
That is just an unfathomable amount of rain. We've had slow churning hurricanes sit over us and dump water on us for days and I'm pretty sure we don't have records close to 17" in 24 hours. I'm so sad for the families missing loved ones, losing everything. So tragic.

As more water recess they are finding livestock. People not only lost their homes, but jobs. Some neighborhoods are completely gone. They found houses miles away from their actual property. There are photos going around of cars full of rocks you would find at the bottom of creeks.
TW @: lots of photos of babies and kids missing. Caution when opening articles.
mysteriouswife, this is horrible, and I am so sorry this is unfolding around you
Thankfully, no one I know is directly impacted. My cousin had minor inconveniences, but is fine.
It is being reported very few had flood insurance. The flooding was abnormal and areas that are not even close to water were wiped off the map. There are entire towns gone. It’s surreal. Cars are in wooded areas. There is a whole house parked at a gas station. The owner came to claim it and noted the car in their living room wasn’t theirs. They have no idea where the car came from.

This sounds horrifying mysteriouswife. I appreciate the updates and hope everyone else remains safe and wish them well through the recovery process (which I know can be a nightmare logistically with insurance, etc.).
