I'm on the hunt for something to wear to my grandmother's memorial service in September (admittedly nervous but a small gathering; she died last November, vaccination and masks required to attend). She was a lively, not just black to a funeral wearing woman, so doesn't need to be super dark colored but also probably would probably stick to more fall colors.
Sticky part is I will (hopefully) be 17-18 weeks pregnant. My kids don't know yet, and with my history of recurrent loss, we likely still won't be publicly sharing. Ideally looking for something that doesn't flaunt my usually pretty flat but won't be so flat belly. Typically something that cuts through the waist directly or is looser fitting tends to at least cover a bit.
I'm typically XS or S, but very long waisted so tend to opt for tall just for waist length. I often shop at Boden, Loft, Old Navy, but nothing has jumped out at me yet.
Anyone love this kind of thing and want to help? Prefer to stay in the $50-60 range but would go higher for the right thing.
I’m a similar size and this dress is actually pretty cute. It is a bit short, so I wear with thick tights. It might not work if it will still be very hot where you are. The belt area could hide a bump.

Well, the dress came and it fits weird - too wide in the chest, when I add a belt it bunches and realizing it might not be possible to really hide the bump that is starting to appear given I still have 2 more weeks.... I may try some things from Banana Republic Factory Store. I tried some of my regular dresses on and they fit but definitely not disguising anything. We are wondering if we will sort of be forced into telling people by then...
I was going to suggest something like this. Gap and old navy have similar sleeveless options in black you could wear an open cardi over. The tiered skirt helps it float away from the stomach.

Bummer. Maybe you'll grow into it in two weeks? haha LIke mentioned above, maybe try a similar style from another place. They might be cut better for your shape.

thanks. I just ordered two more dresses, and I plan to stop at Jcrew Factory this week to return this one and see if there is anything else in stock. I can't tell if it's too big or if it just plan doesn't look right. My boobs really might be a size bigger in 2 weeks, so maybe it will fit then, haha!!

Target has a lot of good options for tunic or balloon style dresses. They have photos of real people wearing them so you can gauge how form fitting they are in the stomach. I think you’ll need a high waist empire with a full skirt, and could layer a cardi or lightweight jacket over it to help with the side view. I gained a lot of weight in my stomach after my hysterectomy so I’m a master at hiding it, but my breast size also impacts how well a tunic style will flow over my belly. A pattern or fun neckline may draw attention away from your belly. A tunic shirt with pencil skirt or leggings may also work.
I actually have this dress on from Walmart today for a bbq. Really comfy, similar style to flow over my fat midsection. Mulitple color options. You can dress it up or down too.

Oo good thinking with the cardigan. I should try the dress on again with a cardigan and see what I think!

I tried the Jcrew dress on today with a cardigan with 1-2 buttons closed covering the bump and it's by far the best yet! I may need to figure out a plan for what to wear the whole weekend, haha, depending if we are telling my aunts and uncles (who will be there all weekend) or just worrying about concealing from the family friends who will be there.
