It’s been brewing for awhile. The entire gulf coast has been on alert. Looks like it’s going to be a strong one. I feel horrible for Louisiana. It’s been hit after hit for them. Can’t catch a break at all. I freaking hate hurricane season. When we finally get out of Houston one day hurricane season will be the number one reason why.
mofongo and our other LA posters I’m thinking about y’all.

abs, ah, it seemed like from the national news reports that it just suddenly appeared. Or maybe it just quickly strengthened, not sure. They seemed surprised enough on the news.
Velar Fricative It is strengthening rapidly, and I can see why it may not have caught the attention of national news before today. DH has been getting a lot of news about it at work throughout the week - they have been on pretty high alert, since for a while it looked like it could be headed to Houston.
I am always relieved when they do not come here, but I feel so bad for Louisiana. It has just been so bad there the last few years.

Yeah there was a lot of uncertainty until yesterday. I'm not surprised it's not getting nation attention until now.
I really really hate this. August and September are just my least favorite months for so many reasons.

I'm about 35 miles from NOLA. As of now we are staying. I'm hoping I don't regret this. I stayed for Katrina and it was one of the biggest mistakes in my life. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH We do have a generator and our neighborhood is a low risk for flooding but damn we didn't need this right now.

Where are you? I’m in Jefferson Parish about a mile from the Orleans border. I’m having big Katrina flashbacks.
My sister is in NOLA and they plan to leave tomorrow afternoon when her H gets off work. I'm hoping that is not too late for them. This is their.. 3rd? hurricane season and we grew up in the desert.

I'm on the Northshore now. I lived in River Ridge during Katrina. My mom is in Metairie but came to my house early this morning. I think we are going to decide after the 4pm forecast. I feel "ok" with a 3, but my fear is we wake up tomorrow and it's a 4+.
That’s how I felt during the winter storms! What a year. Stay safe.
Thank you. I will keep you guys updated. My H now has to work tomorrow so we won’t be leaving until after 5, I’m just glad he can come with me, it would be a lot to manage without him. Still hopeful something changes but we’re prepared.
Good luck and stay safe! Glad you can evacuate with your H.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I think those not used to storms don’t fully understand what a mandatory evac requires. It takes days to prep resources such as shelters and evac routes . This storm intensified quickly. I hope everyone gets out who can.
