Definitely Melissa and Doug for play food! We have fruits, vegetables, and a couple cutting kits from them that have held up for almost 10 years now (big gap between kids).
I always see their felt sandwiches and ice cream kit getting good reviews, too.
My work sent an email announcing that they are delaying our return to work. We were supposed to start next week. Now it’s mid-October. My agency head said at the beginning of the pandemic that none of us would ever have to choose between our health and our jobs. And she meant every word of it!
followyourarrow, felt food always got the most play in our house, and still does some with my 8 YO. I don't have any particular brand to recommend though.
This is my last week at my old job, and I literally have nothing to do but sit in the office. This - is awful (and a large chunk of why I'm leaving). I'd just peace out early, but my boss seemed panicked about me not giving a full notice.
H has brought up wanting a Soda Stream or something like it a lot recently. We drink A LOT of LaCroix like flavored water, and he likes the idea of using reusable bottles and such instead of generating lots of cans. Does anyone else have one and are you a fan? Or am I going to end up with another kitchen appliance that I don't need.
I've had my soda stream for over 10 years and flipping love that thing. I call myself a pop-a-holic becasue I drink so much and the soda stream has cut down my spending on it a ton.
Last year, due to covid and everyone being at home, the cartridges were hard to come by but that no longers seems to be an issue. atleast not for me.
A girl I grew up with is very ill with breast cancer. This isn't her first round with it and she is very weak. She is on disability, living in a hotel and about to get kicked out. She has very little money. She is down to 100 lbs. She is seeking help and there is a go fund me for her. I really wish she had asked for help before she hit crisis, but I am so glad she asked for help now.
I am getting together with a friend to help her pack to move to another hotel for temporary housing.. we are going to also get her some gift cards for groceries, gas etc. My friend messaged the people we went to school with to alert them of the situation and people have been SO generous with monetary donations! I am thrilled!
I also had a contact and that person reached out to a contact... they have programs available to help my friend get housing, rides to treatments etc. I know it is stressful for her now, but hopefully we can get these things into place for her!
I am curious as to where her family is though in her time of need. Perhaps they didn't have a good relationship.. I don't know. At least we can help her however we can. Social media can be a great thing. We never would have been able to share her story and get her some $$$ or resources so quickly if we didn't have social media.

We held out until last year, and I have no idea why.
We only drink bubbly water, so we have one at home and I have one at work. We blow through canisters, but have never had any issues getting refills.

We have a soda stream- While I will say we still drink a ton of canned sparkling waters, because we're lazy it is nice to have. We also really like the Homestyle Lemonade with a splash of cran/raspberry. I don't like to buy Diet Coke for the house because then I get in bad habits of drinking it everyday but having the "diet cola" soda stream allows me to have it when I want it. ANd again, since I'm lazy i don't make it too often.
Patsy Baloney , I have a few things for the holidays already. I told DH that who knows what things will be like and supply chain issues. Plus, there are a few things that are consistent for my kid, so it's easy enough to get them now and just hide them.
I definitely am expecting shortages of toys and stuff. I feel like I've seen several articles to that effect. I saw this one the other day featuring the company that makes LOLs and other junk:
I can confirm supply shortages. If you want holiday decorations for any upcoming holiday buy when you see it. Christmas light are expected to extremely low supply with inflated cost. I have told my family and friends to start buying gifts 6 months out. I am drowning at work and it’s not getting better. Ports are closing like crazy due to covid. There are employe shortages on top of illness.

Yes. My mom gave me hers and I LOVE it. My favorite thing to add besides water enhancer is Ocean Spray Diet 5 CranPineapple juice (with a bit of rum on the weekends).
My kids start school tomorrow and Thursday! I'm so NOT ready!!!!
I signed up with my family and my sisters family for a virtual fall 5k race and I'm impatiently awaiting my package (it comes with a tek hoodie, finisher medal, racing bib, cider packet). I just want the hoodie but I am training to try and run it. lol
I watched a Food Theory video on YouTube about chicken sandwiches, and now I'm thawing out an onion bun and am getting ready to heat up a mediocre foster farms chicken patty to put on it because it made me crave a chicken sandwich. I wish we had a Popeyes near us, because those sandwiches look so good. Then, even though I'm entirely not in the mood for a walk, I'm going to go take one anyway because I'm 0.2 miles short of my bronze running badge for Peloton this month, and I can't not get the achievement when I'm so close.
My writing group is doing a daily writing challenge for September. I'm supposed to come up with a small daily reward if I meet my word count goal, as well as a larger reward for if I meet the monthly goal. I have no idea what to pick. Any suggestions?
I just busted out into total church giggles on a work zoom because someone abbreviated Weatherization Assistance Program to WAP and all I could think about was this news story (yes - I'm a utility/energy nerd). I had to quickly turn the video off because I couldn't stop laughing.
The cat and dogs are doing pretty well together; the dogs are pretty much scared shitless. Nico is doing really well with them. The next hurdle will be them being able to move around him without him trying to go after them or hiss. Also, sometimes, when he has ears a certain way he looks like Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. it's great. lol
I had to put my kitty Mr Pumpkin Pie down today. I know it was the best decision for him but I’m so heartbroken and I can’t stop crying. He was the best cat, loved by many and loved everyone. He had a great 12 years and will be greatly missed. The first pic is the one that stole my heart and the other was last week. RIP my sweet boy
I am supposed to go to a concert tonight and it looks like storms are going to roll through. Whyyyy? I kind of don't want to even go anymore. It is kind of a hassle to have to go on a Tuesday night anyway, and I do not want to stand in the rain. I hate to just throw away the money I spent on tickets, though. I mean I spent it like 2 years ago at this point (since I bought the tickets before the pandemic) but it just seems like a waste. I'm holding out hope that the weather will clear, but it's hard to really get excited about going at this point.
I also have to attend a Zoom funeral at 5:30am tomorrow morning for my H's grandmother (in the UK, which is why the time is so weird for us) so basically at this point I just want to curl up in bed and nap thinking of all of this.
Since we're talking Christmas gifts, any recs for play food? I'd like to get some for the nephews.
If you're near an IKEA they have great stuff. The Melissa & Doug stuff is also good. My DS went through a long throwing phase so for safety I only bought cloth food which IKEA sells.

A requested I download a new game for him on my phone while we were waiting at the doctor's office. I ended up with Candy Crush, because I knew it was easy enough for him to understand it.
I am dreading work today. I came back to hospitality after really realizing I wasn’t going to be able to go back to my pre Covid career and needed to supplement my income to go back to school. Serving is so much harder now that it was pre Covid and I am on the brink of tears multiple times per shift. People are just so mean and Covid PHO’s with vax card checks coming makes me want to quit. Everywhere is understaffed and overworked and customers want to take a lot of my time spouting their Ignorant opinions about why that is happening. December can not come fast enough for the start of school.

We got an IKEA kitchen and alllll the play food when DS1 was 2. It’s held up wonderfully. So ditto this.
The saga of my greedy bitch aunt continues. When she finally signs over the house, I will be thrilled to never speak to her again. She is all the worst of my dad and none of the good.
Our power kept flickering at school from storms and it was so disruptive and annoying. My room is on the wooded (and dark) side of the building and so I had to turn up the lights more than usual and that gave me a headache. Then my DS has decided he wants to play school at home and sounds like what I have to listen to already all day. I can’t wait til bedtime. So.much.noise today.
