Crate and Barrel couches ETA or any other brand recs.

If you own Crate and Barrel living room furniture, how has it held up over time?  Any other feedback that may be useful?

We need new living room furniture and I'm looking at Crate and Barrel, specifically the Axis and Lounge models, though others may be options too.   Our living room is smallish and where we spend most of our time.  We currently have a matching set consisting of a large couch, chair and a half, and ottoman.  I'm looking to replace our set with basically the exact same thing.

I am willing to pay a decent amount for something that will last a long time.  H is more willing to purchase something for the short-term, as we have kids and an old dog.

ETA: I'm also looking at a sofa, chair and a half, ottoman set at La Z Boy.  If you have strong feelings about your living room furniture, regardless of brand, please share

We have a 16 year old Axis sectional that we love. We got it in sueded microfiber and it has stood up to two kids (who are now 15 and 12), three big dogs, and a cat. One kid even wrote on it in Sharpie and it came out no problem.

The back cushions are starting to look a little deflated but neither H nor I think we're anywhere near needing or wanting to replace it.

We've had Crate and Barrel couches for 5 years and I don't think I'd buy them again. I don't think the cushions have held up well despite rotating them frequently and the fabric is showing signs of wear. I had my previous couches for twice as long and they held up better and were half the price.

We have the same set - purchased almost 16 years ago in microfiber. I do need to keep flipping the cushions and such as they are feathered, but I’m very happy with how well it’s held up with the pets and children. It is showing small wear on the seams in some spots, though!

We love Crate & Barrel. I have a lot of things, all at least 7 years old or more and mostly bought on end-of-year sales they used to have!, and they have all held up beautifully for us.

We have the Axis sofa in coffee, and we love it. The fabric is some kind of miracle fabric and everything comes off. That said, it's not in our MAIN kid area every day and isn't SUPER heavily used. Ours still looks new and is about 7 years old.

We also have Axis? I think? at our cottage in leather (was an amazing deal when they used to do post-CHristmas floor model clearance) and it also still looks new after about 10 years. It's only used here and there, but it's great.

Previously, we had another sofa/chair/ottoman set that we still have, but that is looking rough b/c it got a LOT of sun and is faded, and it's about 13 years old or so. Rochelle line. That was a more formal/less family-oriented style.

nicolewi , how have the springs held up?

Our current set is 12 years old. It looks great and the foam is still in pretty good shape, but the springs have been uncomfortable for awhile. I'd say it was really comfortable for maybe 5-7 years tops.

ETA: others can chime in about the springs as well.  Sorry!

We got the lounge couches in 2017. They’re super comfortable but the foam hasn’t held up on the love seat where my husband sits. Granted, that is his “spot”. The regular couch looks fine.

We have a two year old one that looks great still in our main living area. I used the 10% off moving coupon plus opened a credit card.

You didn’t ask, but we also have a 10+ year old Rowe brand in our tv room. Other than the fabric having some stains (kids) - hoping to clean it well this fall with the upholstery cleaner- it still looks great. The cushions are still firm.

Oh boo. I was leaning toward this one since the size fits better. Anything specific or just overall trash after a few years?

I’m also looking at the Paxton by La Z Boy. I sat on it in store and loved it, but wanted to keep looking. I think it’s a newer model, so the length of life is also unknown.

The upholstery did not hold up well, and the cushion fill got beat down quickly. It may have improved recently, but we were not fans.

A friend has an Axis and still loves it 7 years later. Our doorway is barely 32”, so I need to double check whether it will even fit into our house.

. We attempted to purchase an Axis four years ago. We were SO excited excited about it. They came to deliver it and it wouldn’t fit through our elevator. I was so disappointed!! We ended up getting one from a different line and it’s held up well.

My sister has the sectional. If I had to guess I would say it is the Harmony or Haven. She’s had it for ten years. Honestly, I don’t love it and think it’s worn pretty badly. Much worse than my cheaper couches. It’s just not comfortable and hasn’t worn well with her three kids.

We have a crate and barrel couch that is a little over 16 years and going strong.  I want to get new slip covers made for it, just to update the look, but it is a great couch. Very comfortable.

I have two side tables and a coffee table that are 13+ years old and have held up really well! The only damage is from liquid, which could have been avoided if we used coasters more often.

cleo29, do you know what model you have? It seems the Axis and others get better reviews than the Lounge.

We have an Axis and it's held up great. The microfiber fabric is amazing. I am a klutz and I spill on it all the time and it looks brand new.

Are you looking at the regular or the petite? My understanding is the petite is just less deep. People always comment how deep ours is so I can't imagine what the regular is like! I'm 5'5" and I think if I sit all the way back, my feet don't touch the floor.

I think they must have changed the names.  There is just the Lounge and the Lounge deep.  We'd probably go with the regular, which is still 41" deep.  The deep version is like 46" deep, with a 29" seat depth.  That sounds amazing for movie nights, but otherwise might be a bit too much. 

I measured our existing couch and the dimensions are nearly identical to the regular Lounge.  I'm 5'7" and my feet don't touch the floor on our current couch either.  I almost always sit with my feet up or tucked underneath me.  I'd do a chaise end, but prefer the flexibility of the ottoman.

Let me try to look it up. I think it is a style they technically do not make anymore, but there is another that is very similar.

We ordered the Lounge Deep & storage ottoman in June and it won't be delivered until December 😖 so I'm really hoping they hold up. The salesperson did tell me you can get new foam inserts for only a couple hundred dollars. To me that seems worth it if that's the only issue you have and the fabric and framing is otherwise holding up. Of course, right now there's a foam shortage too 😖
