I don’t want skinnies or jeggings. Or super distressed. I also don’t want to spend a ton.
And yes I know you wear what you love and not what’s is style. But what is in style?
Tell me about your favorite high-waisted non-tight jeans. Boyfriend? Bootcut? I always loved bootcut but recently donated all mine (of course now they come back). Granted they were all low-rise.

It doesn't seem like anything is particularly in other than distressed.
My theory is that although plenty of people say skinny is out, they offer no alternative of what is "in" that is not terrible looking, so everyone is going different directions.

I am very “out” bc I actively avoid distressed 🤣
I agree there is no direction. I just bought 3 pair at ON and going to see which I like best

Skinny/Jegging is still all over the teenagers and 20 somethings here.

I am never giving up my skinny jeans/jeggings or going back to boot cut or bell-bottoms. I declare it now. I am 5 ft. tall. No matter how short a short jean is (or even wearing cropped jeans as full length) boot cut and bell bottom dragged on the ground and got gross and wet and ruined. Skinny stretchy jeans forever.

I got a pair of “Eloise High Rise Bootcut in Far Rockaway” from Jag Jeans, it has a button but the back has an elastic waist and they’re so comfortable it’s unreal. It also makes my butt look good.
I got a pair of “Catherine Boyfriend” from Kut from the Kloth and they’re so comfortable, I swear I’m wearing sweatpants.
They’re both about $80 a pair which I don’t think is awful but I do re-wear my jeans since I mainly work from home.
ETA: I never looked good in skinny jeans. I look like a pork sausage roll.

I'm never giving up mine either! I don't know if it's just my proportions or what, but even in petite sizes I can't ever seem to look right in anything that isn't labeled skinny. I run into the problem of regular length being too long and petite being too short and weirdly fitted in all the wrong places.
I think bootcut/flares are on their way back in. I buy all of my jeans from NY&Co. b/c they have talls, and I just bought these in both the lighter wash and the dark wash. The lighter wash fits a bit looser, but I love them both.
I’ve found, that even if I love a style, it doesn’t mean in a few years I’ll be able to buy more of it. I didn’t want skinny for years and finally that was about the only option for awhile so I bought a few.
I’m glad to hear bootcut is making its way back and have always loved Loft’s curvy fit. I was in the store the other day though and all of them had the frayed cuffs and I think they were also shorter still(hate ankle pants!), hopefully other finishes are also added.

I was just looking at nordstrom rack online. I have had really good luck with Joe's jeans fitting. They had a ton of styles that might match what you're looking for.

Short people and jeggings/skinny unite. I’m also curvy, so straight legged or boot cut make me look like a tree stump or something.
All the kids/college students here are wearing mom jeans. I just can’t. I won’t go back!
I went to middle school orientation last week and the 8th grade girls all looked the same - high waisted, wide-leg, cropped mom jeans with a crop top and converse sneakers. It was so weird. One girl had a pleated style jeans...I've never seen anything quite like it!!

YES. And all Brandy Melville here. I have a 9th grader, and I find it all so crazy. The scrunchies! The combat boots!

And one day they are going to look back and go ewwww. I've been a on a jean quest too. It's been frustrating. Too tight, too distressed, too short, etc. Haven't found a perfect pair yet. I REALLY need to just go to the mall and try some on. I'd like to find a pair that is straight, a medium to dark blue that makes me look 20 lbs less. It's gotta be out there!

Conversely, I am 6' tall and will never give up skinnies. I could never find flare leg or boot cut jeans that were long enough to fit properly. With skinny jeans I can find long lengths that just skim the top of my foot or a regular inseam is great for an ankle length look. I've acquiesced to the higher rise to stay "in fashion" even though they aren't my fav.
