DD will turn 9 next month and has been begging for a skateboard for years. I know nothing about skateboards - is there one that you recommend? I’d say that she’s average in coordination. Not awful but not an incredible athlete. And yes she will wear a helmet and pads at all times. TIA!
I would go to a skateboard shop if you have one nearby, and have the staff advise you on sizing and board type. My 7- and 9-year olds skateboard a lot, and my 4-year-old is about to start. When my oldest first started, she had a "penny board" from Amazon, but quickly needed to move on from that one. Now they all have wooden boards from a local shop.

My 8-year-old son has never skateboarded before but is starting a skateboarding class soon. We wanted to go to a skate shop, but we're short on time. My H did some research and we ended up getting this board through Amazon.

I took my dd to the sporting goods store down the street and let her pick one for her (11th) birthday - my kids generally only get one gift for their birthday so that is how much she wanted it. So far she has had it for about 2 months and I don't think she has touched it in the last 4 weeks, so I personally wouldn't bother trying to figure out the "best" one until you know the hobby will stick.
DD1 asked for a skateboard and I just ordered this one to have as a Christmas gift. No idea how it is cause it hasn’t come yet but seems like a good little intro board.
