I woke up this morning thinking that it was Thursday, so figuring out that it is actually Friday was a pleasant surprise.
My daughter is sliding backwards some in regards to her ED recovery, so we are working on reigning that back in. Her Dad and I were both seeing signs, but didn't realize how far she'd slipped. Thank goodness she came to us and let us know what is going in. I feel like it's a huge step that she was able to recognize this and was able to talk to us about it. She also confides a lot in my son (1 year her junior) and they have such a fantastic relationship. The below image is part of a project that she turned in at school. Sharing for a limited time only. I'm so proud of her for sharing this, she has grown so much in the last year and a half.

@sameoldstory My sister struggled/s with anorexia and it's really wonderful to see how far your daughter has come in such a short time. It's a lot of 2 forward, 1 back, but it IS forward. ❤ That's so lovely how she wrote about her relationship with you.
We're going to Vermont today if I can get this zoo on the road. I haven't been in a few years and I'm excited for some good hikes.

Lucy left her lunch on the passenger seat of my car this morning. It’s the SECOND day of lunch, guys. And I put it in her school bag, why was it even out?! Should’ve named her Pigpen man
Our main line is clogged and was backing up through our laundry room floor drain last night. Thankfully it wasn’t a ton of water, but the floor is kind of a mess of towels and the floor drain taken apart. I’m looking forward to the plumber getting here this morning so I can get it all cleaned up.
Thank God it’s Friday. This week has been rough trying to get caught up. I’m struggling for sure.
Looking forward to hiking with a friend on Sunday and trying to keep the weekend low key and relaxing.
I want to throat punch my coworker who scheduled a meeting for 3:30-4:30 on a Friday. He doesn't do this regularly so I won't, but uuuggghhhh. I'm heading home around lunchtime and will probably try to get my workout in before I call into that.
Patsy Baloney, for like three years in a row, our school did pictures the day after Halloween. I guess someone didn't realize that Nov 1 came right after Oct 31? Just about every kid looks hungover in those pics.

I have only been at my job since January. It is a great job. Really, an incredible job. BUT, yesterday I saw an opening at my dream company, my dream job. I have a call set up with the hiring manager on Monday. It is a different job than what I've been doing for the past million years, so I'm very nervous, but man, getting in at this company would be a dream come true.
H works in an office park environment that is very generic buildings surrounded by a big parking lot. Yesterday, as he was coming out of his building and heading to his car, a completely naked guy streaked past. The guy hopped in his car, which was parked pretty close to H’s, then did NOT drive off. He drove about 50 yards away, and parked at the next building over.
It’s even weirder because the guy had out of state plates, and there are no hotels or even houses nearby. Just offices, an LL Bean call center, and FOX News.
I am not so patiently waiting for my MRI results. My H asked me this morning, "what do you think it will show"? Dude if I knew I wouldn't have had the MRI!
I am so flipping happy it is Friday. For being a short week it sure has felt really long.

I know I'm getting old when I complain about the crap singers on the radio. Arianna Grande? My god, horrible singer. At least Britney Spears could dance. LOLO
@sameoldstory, that is such a lovely description she wrote. You should be proud not only of her, but of yourself for building such a wonderful relationship with her. I am so glad she brought up the backslide with you and that you can help her navigate this. I think backslides are very normal for eating disorders, and knowing she can come to you for help when it happens makes me think she'll be successful in managing her ED long term.
This commute thing is killing me. I don't know if it's just this week because we drove 10 hours each way for vacation last week and I'm tired of driving, but it just has seemed so long and left me with so little time to do anything. I was late to work again today because I worked out this morning (yay!) but didn't get up early enough to do that AND be on time. And I thought I was going to have enough time for a Starbucks run, but between traffic and my general lack of ability to predict how long things take, I did not. I went anyway because YOLO, I guess, but it meant I was 30 minutes late. Thank goodness my job is flexible and I can just stay later tonight, but I don't really WANT TO stay later either!
It is supposed to be nice out tomorrow so I am going to go for a solo hike in the morning, then hopefully pick up a few snacky things to eat while watching college football later in the afternoon. I also am scheduled for a facial in the afternoon. I have actually never had one before but I think it's time to start doing them (assuming all goes well). My skin has been looking better for the last year than it had been for years before that, due to acne, but I've had a couple of breakouts on my forehead lately and that makes me think maybe a deep cleaning from time to time might help. Let's hope. Thankfully I don't have a lot of issues with wrinkles yet, but that's mostly because my face is so dang oily.
I decided this month to follow the HardCORE on the Floor group's Peloton strength stacks, no adjustments, no skipping, no complaining, just do it. Today I did that and it was core + lower body and then immediately after did a 4.5 mi walk with H and the dogs and that wasn't the most fun. I'm 5'7" and have a pretty long stride, but H is 6'3" so I really have to work to keep up with him lol.
I found out yesterday that there's a Capriotti's (my favorite sub shop from DE) location in Frisco! Am I going to drive 35 minutes for a sub this weekend? Yes the fuck I am.
So glad it's Friday! For being a short week it's been a LONG one.
There is some ridiculous drama going on with my daughter & the girls next door. Like utterly ridiculous silly stuff and normally I wouldn't give it too much weight but it pissed me off to see my kid be mean toward the younger of the 2 girls this morning. The sisters are in 1st & 5th grade & my kid is in 3rd and the transition to a different school for the older one I think has been hard and I think she is a little jealous of the relationship between my kid & her sister because my H has heard little instances of her trying to pit the 2 against each other. But dang it's hard to watch. I talked to my kid a bit this morning and will have a more in depth convo this weekend about being kind. Parenting man, it's rough sometimes!
Hey stores that sell larger sizes for kids (looking at you old navy, Justice, kohls)- if you notice those sizes selling out quickly and are out of stock ALL OF THE TIME, what does that tell you?!? We need more of those sizes and options!

A Capriotti’s is located right down the street from my son’s school. It beckons to me regularly. Our friends’ who now live in South Carolina but grew up in DE like us load up on Cap’s when they are home visiting.
calamity, definitely FOX is the #1 suspect. We were like, did some visiting reporter lose a bet or something?
Jalapeñomel my 9 year old is currently obsessed with the old Nickelodeon show Victorious, which is set at a performing arts high school. I was just saying to H, of all the kids on that show, Ariana Grande would have been my *last* pick to make it big as an adult. She can’t act either! It makes me curious what actually does factor into people breaking through. She seems like a sweet and funny person IRL but I doubt that’s what helped her.

Now if only Grotto Pizza would expand...
Sorry but… Nicola’s for life! Lol. I can’t have gluten anymore but their Nicoboli’s are amazing. Damn it, now I’m hungry.
And Thrasher’s fries! Preferably with a gallon of malt vinegar on them. I could do this all day

That's our favorite pizza place! We have one in our town. I think it's the only one in this part of the state, so I feel very lucky.

G asked if she could make dinner this week, so I’m taking her to the tiny Italian store near us, and she’s making pasta tomorrow. Mmmmm. I think she’s was hungry for some comfort food.
She is doing SO well with us. She’s a great kid. Goes to school, comes home, does her homework, then eats dinner and spends the rest of the evening with us. It has worked out so well.

@sameoldstory, omg that made me tear up/I am kind of crying at my desk now reading what your daughter wrote. The relationship between a mother and daughter is a powerful thing. My daughter is 12.5 and she has been going through some 'stuff' lately. I can tell she is more aware of weight, etc and I am trying to do all that I can to be body-positive for her even though it can be difficult for me personally.

My eldest has also struggled a bit with food and weight, especially during the pandemic. They have to read an article a week for English, and the article this week majorly triggered them because it was basically shaming kids/adolescents for eating processed foods without talking a single sentence about the why.
BUT I'm so proud of my kid. After validating them and talking through it, they were able to email their teacher to ask to a different article that they found on their own. They did the marking they needed to do, wrote the summary and personal response this morning for it to be turned in on time.
Last year, they would not have been able to do that. The turn around and self-advocacy was amazing.

You think she is crap?
I'm not a fan of her as a person, and music is definitely not the same as 30+ years ago, but she is extremely talented and has insane range and ability.
