Gato, that's what I'm thinking. I might actually be able to buy the hood and gloves (or something similar) separately at a Halloween store. The rest shouldn't be too hard to replicate. I'm just not super crafty and would have preferred the easy route of just clicking "buy now" LOL.
If you go the accessory route, it might be cheaper to buy a costume just for the accessories and use a men's flannel shirt (belted with cut sleeves and hem) or a tunic of some sort in place of the sexy dress.
I can't speak for Mel, but I watched her performance at the White House, and she has a LOT of bad habits. Not great breath support, mushes her words, does a weird thing with her jaw to create vibrato. Maybe she will develop as she gets older, but she did a Whitney song and was pretty cringey by comparison.
Just coming in to say her breath control is enough to make me want to put a fork in my eye. Also agreed, forced vibrato, no enunciation, vowels are formed all incorrectly.
I am loving all of this as a former madrigal singer. And people may not love her, but Celine Dion is a great example of a person who has great range and natural vibrato (which some have stronger than others), but she can also control it and hold a pure note.
I think a lot of singers want to think, "I'm talented, I don't need to work with a vocal coach", but that is ludicrous thinking. Professional athletes have a lot of natural talent, but also have trainers and the like. The voice is no different.
I remember reading a something Julie Andrews said in response to a question implying that she does not have to work at it, that her voice required a lot of warming up and work to be able to do what she could do.

ssmjlm wishing you a day full of lots of snuggles and a peaceful goodbye tomorrow.
I braved the mall with a baby today to try to exchange a birthday present that had the gift receipt. I asked the cashier how much the amount was, and she told me the number with no additional commentary, so I proceeded to spend way too long trying to find something - it was all ugly, too expensive or the wrong size, so it took forever, and then the line was long and slow. Baby woke up and was making it clear that he was going to start screaming for food any second, so it was a little stressful, but we finally got to the register only to be told that the gift receipt scanned as something else, so I couldn't do the exchange 🤦🏻♀️ Information that would have been useful 45 minutes ago! Luckily DS hung in there like a champ until we got to the car, at which point I whipped out a boob in the parking lot because of course thanks to Covid the mall breastfeeding room is closed. Fun!

PDQ
I had a brief teleconference w a 35d in-patient treatment program for dd. 4 years of being stymied by schools, doctors, insurance companies have brought me to this point. Thankfully they treat kids w ADD/ODD (they will confirm the dx but from what I described to them, they suspected the same).
ETA - $60k for the 35d and my insurance covers exactly zero of that bc it’s out of network 😵🤮😵
