This is the first weekend of insanity. Saturday DD1 has boxing and DD2 has soccer. Then DD1 is having a friend over, so I will try to find a friend for dd2.
Sunday DD1 had field hockey and DD2 has soccer. Then DH and I are planning to move a TV out to the pool and watch football poolside.
Tomorrow is pure insanity. Beau's son has soccer, then we're going to the city to see some Chinatown stuff with beau's mom, then we're popping in to an outdoor concert that beau's friend is playing at while we're down there.
Sunday we are not doing a damn thing because I predict pure exhaustion from the kids from a busy Saturday. Beau is working all day at a big event, so I'll be home with the kids and fully intend to just hang out. Beau is always worried that they'll "get bored" if we just stay home. Hence the Saturday schedule he put together. I think he forgets that his son isn't an only child anymore who needs activity to keep him entertained. Three kids can occupy themselves just fine for a day at home.
I need to figure out how to help my kids juggle all the stuff they have to bring back and forth to school starting next week. Backpacks, chromebooks, lunchboxes, swim gear bags with fins, and violas... They look like pack mules.
After working 10-12 hour days all week, I am exhausted. My plan is to turn in early tonight because tomorrow is the start of soccer for DS1 and DS2. I'm helping out as a coach for DS2's league and I'm kind of excited to work with the U5 kids. I'm hoping that Sunday can be a lazy day since work is super busy and I need that day to catch up. We have a deadline to meet by Oct 1 and all eyes are on me.
Saturday DS has an outdoors at the park birthday party to attend. DD has been invited to a friend’s house to swim and maybe sleep over, but she’s home today with a sore throat and stuffy nose, so we might be heading to urgent care for a strep test.
Sunday we are supposed to meet friends at a play place. If it’s crowded we will play miniature golf. If it’s not, we will play games inside or bowl.
Got a new school computer and it seems to be working well. She was able to log in access assignments, take pictures and turn them in last night. No private lesson this weekend as her instructor is camping. I'm making/canning tomato juice this weekend Hopefully my roof project starts Monday.
Also, I’m amazed, but it’s taken 38 years for me to have a flight cancelled. I’ve had plenty of delays, but never a cancellation. I was able to rebook for an hour later, and since my goal is to get to the airport 5-10 mins prior to boarding, I get to chill at home vs. at the airport, so that part is nice. I think sdlaura does the same and I remember thinking she was crazy for cutting it so close, but that’s the life I live now and it’s great, thank you precheck + clear. DH will be in meetings, so I’ll need to shell out for an Uber now, but at least it’s not too far.

Well, we're a little worried that beau's son has found a loophole for attending school. This morning he tried to pull the "I have a stomache" card and beau wasn't having it. Sent him to school. Then at snack time his snack started "making his tongue feel itchy" so the school called and made him go home for the rest of the day. He does have food allergies, but the food he was eating was prepackaged and something he's had a million times before, so there's no way it caused a reaction. He's also not the most reliable reporter about itchy tongue - if he doesn't like a food or wants to have something else, he's been known to say it makes him itchy to try to get out of eating it. He's home and totally fine and just hanging out. Here's hoping this doesn't become a pattern...

This is the last weekend for us before the crazyiness of swim season begins, so we will enjoy having not a whole lot to do. I was out of town for most of the week for a conference, DH is still recovering from his ACL surgery so the weekend will mostly be spent lounging in our pool and being lazy. It is going to be glorious!

I got my 2nd shot today!! I hope I don't have any issues, DH started feeling bad about 12 hrs after he got his 2nd dose a few weeks ago. I do not have time to feel bad this weekend.
DS has 2 soccer games. I have a million loads of laundry to do. My dad will arrive on Monday for at least a 10 day visit (we haven't seen him since Xmas), and the guest room is a wreck. I hope I can get it looking better!!! YIKES. Please send good that I can get all of this done....
3 soccer games because a kid has a double header (with a gap) and 2 cub scout things on Sunday. I'm kind of tired thinking about it, but at least it will be 86 instead of 96 like last weekend.
A chill weekend thankfully, because the next 3 are nuts. Dd is having a friend over and they want to watch the Exorcist??? I told her to stay in the basement and keep that demon show out of earshot. I may have to bless the TV.
Tomorrow I want to clean the storage, game room in the basement. There needs to be a trip to Goodwill in my future. Plus, I plan on checking Christmas lights while there. I realize it is early. But they are on the floor, and several strands were put last year. I'm supposed to go to and 80s themed bday party Saturday night.
Sunday is chill. Maybe read a book and cook a big pot of spaghetti and meatballs for the week.

We had good luck with implementing a few rules that take the fun out of being home for fake sick days. Our rule is that if they are missing school, they are allowed to read, but no video games and they can watch tv or movies but we get to choose the show/movie.

These are good. In my house growing up, there was a rule that there would be no extracurricular stuff or fun activities until you returned to school. So if you were sick on Friday, your weekend was screwed.
My boss is so petty. We have a two hour faculty meeting on Friday mornings rather than after school. He is notoriously crappy at time management so stuff like “announcements” take 30 minutes. Could be an email. Anyway, today we had a pretty heated conversation about some diversity work, which he was totally wrong about and was called on it by several women. We ran out of time. This afternoon, we get an email saying we are now meeting on Monday afternoons as well as Fridays and we should all be there. Le sigh.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We are actually doing nothing. DH is so busy and he has to work. I think we might go over and hang with some friends tomorrow (just me and the kids). Tomorrow is the anniversary of FIL’s death though so need to play it by ear if DH wants us here.

twinmomma home sick from school is you are confined to your bed, naps required, and sick foods (chicken soup, broth, brat diet). DD can read or color only after naps and for short time frames.
Solved the headache and upset tummy fake sick. Normally when she is truly sick she sleeps a ton so thus sick rules for fake sick.
Good call on all the sick day rules! We will have to do that if he pulls this again. Beau lectured him on how he cannot pull this again and that it's not ok. He needs some boy who cried wolf reminders.
sdlaura, yes I’ve been double checking airports to make sure they have clear/precheck. Burbank has precheck, but no clear. BUT an entirely separate line for precheck, so effectively the same. I will be doing this trip ever 3 weeks for the foreseeable future, so I’m feeling like a pro. But I need an unde seat suitcase because Southwest has the worst overhead storage situation and boarding in C group meant I had to gate check. They had 4 overhead bins broken today.
k3am, I don’t have clear, because they don’t have it at the San Diego airport, so it’s not worth it to me to pay for it. Just pre check worked fine with all my travel pre pandemic, though I bet those dedicated lines are open less now.
Maybe you could just tack on the early boarding fee to make sure you get bin space?
I’m A-list preferred on southwest - it’s nice to board early.
