My H and another couple had made plans to visit NOLA in early October (plans made way in advance). Our Airbnb was right near the FQ, and we were notified this morning that she will need to cancel our reservation due to intermittent power and Wifi interruptions. We closely watched Hurricane Ida, and are following the power loss that is overwhelming the city.
We are still about 3 weeks out from our stay, but we did all arrange flights, tours, restaurant reservations for our stay there. We still want to support the community, but also want to be conscious about the sensitive situation that NOLA is in right now.
Would you recommend we still go (either find another Airbnb or rent a hotel), or it's not worth going right now?
These may be helpful. It sounds like it's heavily dependent on exactly where you will be. You should contact every reservation you made, tours, restaurants, etc. and see what they're saying as to what availability and condition will be like. Then see if any hotels have availability since a lot of them are housing first responders, out of town electricity workers, etc.
(As far as Delta, the area seems to be on par with Florida with a lower full vaccination rate. The case numbers appear to be decreasing, but that may be because people left due to the hurricane. )

Power is back in the city, but there may be localized damage where certain buildings have not been reconnected and possibility for planned outages to do more work (line workers can’t work anything hot now…don’t get me started). Internet is hit or miss since AT&T and Cox aren’t really locally regulated and therefore don’t really care about fixing things ASAP.
Right now, most restaurants, if open, have limited menus. I’d expect a decent recovery on that front by then. FYI, we do have a vaccine mandate in the parish that if you want to go into a public place you have to show proof of vaccination or recent negative test.
If you try to find a hotel, that may be iffy as many are still hosting line workers and the like for neighboring hard hit areas where there are no open hotels. Per state mandate, those workers have priority on rooms.
I think hotels and other alternatives are definitely going to be an issue for you- DH is there now doing response/recovery work and can't get a room, and it sounds like everyone is expecting to be around for at least another few weeks if not longer. Luckily his command has berthing vans that they've got parked on a military base with access to gym facilities for showers and such.
Other services are also still pretty limited depending on where you are.
