If anyone comes in here guessing a 2022 date . . .
LOL. They're still not vaccinating under 18 here last I heard. Oct 29. Don't big announcements come on Fridays? And then people will get their kids their first shot and stupidly go trick or treating unmasked. Cynic, party of one.

Lurker but they have set unblinding appointments for study kids who got the placebo to get the vaccine stating 10/1 because Pfizer is doing something (presenting to FDA maybe?) on 9/28. So if the study placebo kids can get the vaccine starting 10/1 then I assume all kids will be eligible that week.

Doesn't it take about three weeks to a month after Pfizer presents data to the FDA before they come back with their decision? For adults, Pfizer submitted on Nov. 20th, FDA granted emergency authorization on Dec. 11th. For teens, Pfizer requested expansion to teens on April 9th, FDA granted emergency authorization May 10th.
Or am I conflating different parts of the process?
I'm liking every guess before mine (Except the Orwellian "September 31st" one. lol.)
Wasn't the one for teens approved on a Wednesday? I feel like it was, because my kid's appt was 2 days after, and it was a Friday.
So far as I could tell, this one was a total cluster, with the EUA from the FDA coming almost a week before the CDC added a recommendation for teens to actually get the shot, with some places giving the shot immediately at mass vaccination sites after the EUA came out, with others not actually making the shot available until the CDC actually added the recommendation. And some were in between, presumably since it took time to figure out whether they wanted to wait for the CDC or could start jabbing without the CDC's recommendation. I expect this time around they will coordinate statement releases to avoid confusion. Also, back in May you may recall that there was actually some question as to whether teens without underlying conditions really needed it, with many saying we'd achieved herd immunity without immunizing them. I think with the whole delta situation, there will be more widespread enthusiasm to hit the ground running this time.
