I woke up at 3am, just got back to sleep sometimes after 4 and my partner's alarm went off at 4:30. Not sure why as it wasnt a morning he was plannign on riding early. So then I never got back to sleep after that. I too am dragging today.

picksthemusic, that is me right now (though sometimes it isn't awful, but in the past few years it's been insane). The cramps just kill me and I have never had to wear so many layers of stuff for my period before peri.

I'm really glad I invested in some Thinx because they've been so helpful. I have to wear them for the first few days of my period even with my menstrual cup. It's insane.
Don't spray. The spray is toxic for everyone, just more toxic for the ants. Use terro traps.
I guess I wasn’t clear. He wants to spray and go all apocalyptic for ants. And I have to talk him down (hence the battle we have).
Is he from the south? I used to think ants were pretty innocuous. And then I moved to where fire ants exist, and I now refuse to go barefoot on grass or wear sandals. Just took a couple experiences with the dang bitey bugs to convince me. Evil things. I will never look at ants the same way again.

We are from the same town in East Tennessee. I don’t recall having fire ants growing up. Plus, these are tiny little sugar ant in the house. It’s just ants are his hill. I’ve mostly accepted it, and we have compromised on ant traps out at all times. He is weird😂
My office used to have a 2 1/2-day meeting for our department in the Before Times. They'd fly associates in from all over the U.S. We'd spend 2 days discussing and collaborating, and the 1/2 day, we'd do a charitable project.
They're trying to re-create the in-person event over Zoom. The charitable event is to take a fleece blanket and create a no-sew "fringe" around the edge of it, and mail it to the charity (I have no idea why we can't just ... mail the fleece blanket -- there's nothing on the website about WHY the blankets need this fringe).
Even though it's "no-sew," it still requires supplies I don't have, and just don't have the bandwidth (time-wise or mental health-wise) to go obtain them before the team project.
There's two main types of no-sew blankets I know about. Would either of these help?
I tried to find a prime option for the second style, and couldn't. Well, mostly couldn't. There was one, with a fishing print, and they only had one in stock. Anyways, I searched for "no sew fleece kit".

My company shipped us a fleece blanket, and instructions from the charity on what to do with it. It's assumed we have masking tape and fabric scissors. It doesn't seem like a lot to go out and get, but I'm not in a great state of mental health at the moment.

Oh, ugh. Sounds like it's the 2nd option (two big pieces where you have to cut a whole bunch of ties). They are a pain in the ass. I'm sorry.
(if it helps - "sewing scissors" don't really have to be all that special, just sharp, and not used on anything other than fabric... I'd just buy a new pair of utility scissors, and use those. And any ruler should be usable in place of a measuring tape)

Is the charity named after a Peanuts character? You definitely don't need "fabric" scissors and I think you can skip the masking tape because it's just a guide for even cuts. Will they know if you don't do it? Can you fake it? Maybe your WiFi will go down at that time.... hugs.

Ugh. I had to make those at a volunteer event at work a few years ago and it was awful. I mean, it was a few hours off working in the middle of the day and we got snacks do that was good but they were such a pain in the ass to make.

Yes, the charity named after a Peanuts character. As for the rest, I don't know.
redheadbaker - I can make one and send it for you with your name on it and any other info needed.
You're an angel, but it seems like we will be doing this activity while on our Zoom call on the last day of the 3-day meeting.
When is your meeting? Thanks to my penchant for estate sales and Costco, I have extra scissors and masking tape. I can put them in the mail to you tomorrow. Seriously. I have a pair out right now that I just used to cut some fleece so I know they'll work.

this is completely the kind of thing I'd find cathartic to do - for some mind clearing - and even I am cringing at the idea of it as forced work camaraderie.
But reading all this has given me an awesome idea for a DIY sea urchin costume. I just need to talk someone into being a sea urchin.

If you make it a 2x, I’ll be a sea urchin!! I love dressing up 🎃

It's tomorrow. I'm going to make myself take a lunch break and go out and get them. I sold something on eBay and also have to drop that at the post office, so I'll be out anyway.
I got a new computer on Friday and took Monday off. So today was my first Webex with the new computer.
My webcam didn’t work in the USB it was in, and I unplugged my keyboard instead of the still camera. My earbuds weren’t giving me sound, but everyone could hear me In the discombobulated shit trying to switch all my plugs, unplug and replug, etc, I knocked over a soda onto my desk and keyboard.
My boss and her boss were on the call.
I was so afraid I was becoming one of those people who can’t work Webex. I judge my coworkers who have issues every time. And I was almost one of them.
It’s a really good thing I’m at a don’t give a shit stage of my career. And that I figured that all out before a public hearing I have coming up.
rubytue Anytime there is a windows update or some other similar thing, my WebEx settings get all messed up. Never fails. My camera works 50% of the time.
My current interim boss, who I like as a boss, is currently bombing his interview for the permanent position. Based on this interview, I wouldn't hire him.
The person I wanted them to pick for my boss' job did not get it. He had his feedback meeting yesterday and promptly left early.
The last time we had a random person hired for the Director job, she was terrible. She never got to know anyone, forgot things, and had terrible time management. Not to mention, no skills for our particular type of work.
So they are bringing in yet another outsider. My mentor knows her and likes her, but there is a very big part of me freaking out completely at someone new.
Super frazzled here too. But i'm going through some extraordinary personal shit, some of which I just don't want to confront but i'll be in this quagmire of disfunction until i do.
Grrr...
On the plus side - if anyone lives near a Torchy's Tacos, the taco of the month is incredible. I had one for lunch today (in a bowl, no tortilla). Mmmm. Copied and pasted description: GREEN CHILE PORK CARNITAS TOPPED WITH BLACK BEANS, FRIED PLANTAINS, SOUR CREAM, COTIJA CHEESE, PICKLED ONIONS, CILANTRO AND AVOCADO SAUCE ON A FLOUR TORTILLA.
pixy0stix how does he do at the actual job? It seems so silly to go through the fireball interview process in some situations.
He's middle of the road at it. Competent, but not outstanding. He's never done anything that I've found objectionable, but he has areas where I wish he'd improve (like making decisive decisions so we could move on with projects).

Testament to the bizarre weather we had over the summer: my hydrangeas have just started budding within the last week or two. They won't get to bloom before it frosts, which is kind of sad. Normally they bloom in July, but we had one of the coldest Julys ever on record and it messed up a lot of the plants this year.
I had a second round interview today. I don't want to get my hopes up.
Fingers crossed!!
I got invited for the final round interview of the job I decided I didn’t want and so I pulled out. They’ve been hot on me since we started and I’m the only current candidate and I’d LOVE to work for this org and this hiring manager (I work with her in my current role) but the job itself is just not what I want to be doing. Talking to the hiring manager to tell her this was so hard. She was so gracious and understanding but also let me know that I was breaking her heart a little. Ugh I wish it could have been right. I had a first round with a hiring manager for a job that is way outside of my current area today and felt like a fish out of water. I don’t think that one is right either. Job searching fucking sucks. I have a first round for another job that I really really want and coming up but the competition is going to be fierce so we will see.
