My brother is a nurse in a surgical ICU, and said his unit has seen a big wave of breakthrough cases in staff recently. They were eligible at the very beginning, so they're like 9 months out from full vax with Pfizer now. They've been stretched really thin as a result, and he's really freaked about catching it. I think he's getting his booster very soon. Hearing about the prevalence of breakthrough cases there - yes, in a hospital, but not in a covid unit - has made me really, really hope my (under 12) kids' teachers are getting their boosters ASAP.
Not a teacher but all my teacher friends have gotten it (I got my moderna booster due to being immunocompromised). I’ll admit that most people I know are getting their boosters now no matter job/technical qualifications. I’m in a very highly vaccinated part of MA. We really like getting our vaccines lol.
I decided to do it - I got the Pfizer booster on Friday! Easy to get at Walgreens. I felt a little tired/achy on Saturday, but that was it, nothing that bothered my day or anything. I didn't have any reaction to the first 2 shots either. We continue to have breakthrough cases of school staff so I am glad I did it!
