I got vaxxed in two different states and recevied two different cards. I absolutely do not carry them around with me. THey are also huge. The state we live in called to remind us to get our 2nd dose. No idea if they updated their info.
spinnaker5 , I just checked virginia and it cannot locate me. It appears that the providers have to first register with the registry and then provide the data.
I can ask when I go for my booster, but it doesn't seem like our health dept has anything mandatory/universal.
I just checked Virginia too and it can't find me either, and I had my vax done at a Fairfax County govt vaccine site.

State vaccine databases seem to be spotty and sometimes inaccurate. When I got the reminder for my second dose I realized they spelled my last name wrong in the system and I always wonder if that will ever be an issue. So for now I just carry around my card.

Yeah I’m not sure it actually has any data. I mean, I went through the big area medical group and DH through work. I doubt his employer reported anything.
I also couldn't find myself in my state's database. I had to call both my vaccine provider and the database help line (twice) before it was corrected. I think we have to assume that there were probably lots of typos in the spring vaccine madness.
ETA the person at the provider's call center tried to tell me that they don't report vaccine information to the state. They are a major hospital in an urban area. There were probably 100 people there getting vaccinated when I was in several rooms laid out to move people through efficiently in large numbers. I still can't figure out what the call center person was thinking by saying that, but they were definitely wrong.
We lost another family friend and I saw his obit yesterday. I guess this is how you say “he died of Covid” without directly saying it. “ Chuck enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling with his wife, watching Fox News, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.”
I'm getting my booster today. I've warned my husband that I may not be functional this weekend. I hope I, for once, don't have a reaction.
Good luck! I'm waiting to hear what they decide on moderna as I really don't want a booster. I was so sick after my second shot. A friend of mine was very sick after #2 and was only mildly sick after the booster. Hopefully, the booster will be better for you too.

more #anecdotes but out of the half a dozen people I know who have gotten the Moderna booster, those who had a tough time after #2 had little to no reaction with the booster, and those of us who had an easy time with #2 got hit hard by the booster. We were all around the 7-8 month mark out from #2 when we got the booster.
MH's coworker tested positive yesterday; he caught it from his mom, they're both vaccinated. MH's working from home today, will test tomorrow, and we cancelled our trip to see some family for the first time since shutdown.

I went into my office for the second time since February 2020 earlier this week. Monday, my boss was out sick, but felt ok the next day so he came to work. He didn't think to test. Wednesday - when I was there - we found out he was a close contact with someone who tested positive. The contact happened in the office the week before, and even though masks are required indoors at our work, no one wears them except the two days a month I show up in the office because I wear mine, as I have at-risk family members. So he was exposed to the positive case in the office with no mask, and 7 days later he was out sick for a day. He was still coughing and lethargic when I saw him Wednesday, so I wore my mask and kept my distance. Now every sniffle or itch in my throat, I get nervous. I will test Monday, which will be 5 days from when I saw him, since he won't go get tested. I hate this!

Good luck! And keep us updated. You are the only person I know who had a reaction as bad as I did to Pfizer. I’m scared to get a booster too (eventually, not eligible yet). I hope enough time has passed that the reaction will be much less.
At least 43,000 people may have been wrongly given a negative Covid test result, the UK Health Security Agency has said, as it announced the suspension of operations at a privately run lab in Wolverhampton.
NHS test and trace has suspended testing operations by Immensa Health Clinic at its laboratory in Wolverhampton, the agency said.
Immensa Health Clinic, which is owned by the founder of a healthcare firm called Dante Labs, was incorporated as a company in the UK in May 2020, just months before it started processing tests under a UK government contract. Its website shows it offers testing services for people travelling in and out of the UK. (in other words, mates of government got money to do this and fucked it up royally and won't have to deal with any repurcussions because our gov't is shit)
While I was waiting to receive my shot, some guy wandered in with a mask around his chin to ask for a covid test. While I don't know why he needed the test, why not just cover your face with a mask that you have *right* there. (Also, there were no tests there.)

mrsukyankee, I have a question: what are the masking regs/culture in the UK? I was watching the NFL game in London this morning, and nary a mask to be seen.

We were wondering this too.
Masks are not required and when we were there in July (when the mask mandates ended) mask wearing was pretty slim. Businesses can require them however (my ILs went to the movies for the first time this weekend in 18 months and masks were required). Kids under 11 have never been required, or encouraged, to wear masks throughout the whole pandemic. Schools have also not made masks compulsory.

Our freaking gov't removed all mask mandates. There are none. None. So despite the fact that our Covid numbers are awful, people feel that it's "done". Now, it also depends on where you are and who you are as to whether or not you are still wearing a mask. Most of the businesses in my area require masks to enter, but the grocery stores do not. Some don't follow through if they do require it. On the tube, about 25-50% wear them, depending on time of day and line. It's the most frustrating and worst thing ever, and it's going to harm all of us over time. I'm so angry with my gov't right now in England.
In other parts of the UK, it's different - Scotland and Wales have mask mandates in place and people are wearing them more than not. Just us Englanders who think we're special don't. UGH.
Note - my H and I wear masks in all shops, on public transportation and any enclosed space unless eating or drinking something. We tend to go to places where there is social distancing and good ventilation. I also test with lateral flow tests 2x a week due to having to come into the uni I work at 3x a week. There has never been a mask mandate for the outdoors, so that never was something I did much except in the very beginning of lockdown when there were too many unknowns for me. I wouldn't go to a sporting event or big concert at this point, even outdoors.
