I've been trying to Christmas shop way early but I'm already getting order cancellations so I thought this might be an interesting thread.
This week I've placed two orders for DS's Halloween costume because the first one fell through and I still don't have shipping info for the second one and it's Oct 11, which normally not a big deal but this year feels very close.
Gluten free pretzels at Aldi have been out for so long. A year, maybe? I don't even know anymore.
We're replacing all our windows and they're super backordered. We were told 16 weeks when we ordered in July. Based on what we've heard, I don't expect an install until spring at the earliest.

It took me a few stores to find one can of pumpkin hiding way in the back of the shelf. Meat is kind of hit or miss and I usually end up rearranging my meal plans to accommodate what I can find.
Work wise, laptops and scanners are backed up 2-3 months.

Oven - we were originally told February. We got lucky and a different store had one in stock and it fits our wall hole (it's a 27 inch hole from the 70's and most ovens are bigger now - although they do still make 27 inch ovens). We were using a convection toaster for about 6 weeks. The original oven is still not available anywhere.
I ordered 2 duffle bags from LLBean in August and one might ship this week and the other November 1.
Paid for in May, ready for installation in late July after new cabinets were installed. Templated and slabs chosen in mid August. Install scheduled for late September. Slabs rejected by fabricator 2 days before install. No more slabs available at all, or anything similar. Finally tracked down someone that could help last week after calling, emailing and showing up in person, more slabs due in 3 weeks.
I'm ordering the backsplash this month and just hope to have it installed by the end of the year.
I've been in kitchen renovation limbo/hell without a real kitchen sink for nearly 3 months. We started this whole process back in April.
Also, new West Elm couch that was delivered in July was defective. Replacement is supposedly showing up this month. I'm not holding my breath, but at least we have the defective one in the meantime.
I volunteer with a cat rescue, and my friends that feed feral cat colonies are having a hard time finding canned cat food (Friskies, etc). Shelves are empty, and have been for weeks!
Dress shoelaces. DS broke a shoelace on his black dress shoes and I ended up having to order from amazon because no IRL store near me had them. Not the local grocery stores, not Walmart, not Target, not 3 of the chain shoe stores I went to. Even the local cobbler was out of the length he needed in black. I guess if people working from home without pants, they aren't wearing shoes either.
Mom's cat's preferred Fancy Feast Filet Mignon flavor kibble. She does not understand this.
Sneiders sausage rolls. I’ve been looking for like a year and found out the other day they’ve been discontinued. Christmas Eve will never be the same. Also I’m having a really hard time finding method clean and clear liquid laundry soap.
Costco PB as well here, and problems with TP and PT's again there too. I did get lucky last week and they had them both in stock but had the one per customer limit again.
followyourarrow , that worries me b/c I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks and while they're going to send me a laptop, I don't know if they'll send a keyboard or extra monitors like my previous job did. And I NEED those to function, lol. Guess I could reach out to them to find out and order what i may need now.
OH, and glass shower doors. It took a couple of months for ours to come in and after it was installed, it was wrong (not the final layout that was decided on) but I'm living with it b/c I have no desire to go through that BS again.
My picky cats eat Fancy Feast (we've tried and tried to get them to eat better quality food and they are not having it!). It's often gone from the shelves. Granted I do usually try to buy it on a Sunday evening after all the shelves have been picked clean. But still!!
We ordered a table that goes in the pool from Ledge Lounger in April. We got part of it in September and the second part supposedly has shipped. We missed the entire pool season!
Sofa. I've been waiting since I ordered it in April and supposedly it will be here late November or maybe December.
I’m right here!
Lol
Someone at work ordered a new table in the spring, gave their old one to their college age kid for his apartment in August, and now aren't getting the new table until at least Jan.
I did think of another one- happy Howie's dog treat meat rolls. What a random thing to be out of stock everywhere.
The microchip shortage is keeping me from getting my commission payouts, lol. I don't get paid on my sales until my customers' orders ship, and because of the microchip shortage there's a delay of at least like 120 days+ on so many of our products. I hope none of you (or your companies) need servers, routers, wireless access points or anything like that because you're not getting them any time soon!
I keep booking more sales because companies NEED these things, but nothing is shipping. It is killing us, and I feel so bad for companies who are in a bind because of this.

This is my kind of post!! I will refrain from commenting all of the post and posting supporting articles. I will dig up a Tweet shared at work that shows the backlog at the ports.
I ordered H a pair of shoes mid-September. I won’t get them until Christmas.
Work gave all employees a pair of specific shoes. We were supposed to get them in June. Only the men’s version has shipped. Which is funny because I ordered DD and H same brand and hers got here in two days. H still hasn’t shipped. (Not the same brand from above)

This is much larger than the tech world too. Cars, automated building supplies, medical equipment. It’s probably one of the more scary things to be short on. Rumor circulating is auto industry is in talks to go back to real keys and switches.
