The microchip shortage is keeping me from getting my commission payouts, lol. I don't get paid on my sales until my customers' orders ship, and because of the microchip shortage there's a delay of at least like 120 days+ on so many of our products. I hope none of you (or your companies) need servers, routers, wireless access points or anything like that because you're not getting them any time soon!
I keep booking more sales because companies NEED these things, but nothing is shipping. It is killing us, and I feel so bad for companies who are in a bind because of this.
This is much larger than the tech world too. Cars, automated building supplies, medical equipment. It’s probably one of the more scary things to be short on. Rumor circulating is auto industry is in talks to go back to real keys and switches.
This makes sense at least for keys because consumers can accept that (I think, I'm not an expert) to get a car this month for less $$$. I'm not sure what the implications are for switches, but for me personally I can't imagine why I would care.
This is my kind of post!! I will refrain from commenting all of the post and posting supporting articles. I will dig up a Tweet shared at work that shows the backlog at the ports.
I ordered H a pair of shoes mid-September. I won’t get them until Christmas.
Work gave all employees a pair of specific shoes. We were supposed to get them in June. Only the men’s version has shipped. Which is funny because I ordered DD and H same brand and hers got here in two days. H still hasn’t shipped. (Not the same brand from above)
Post all the things!!! This is also my thing right now and I want to geek out on it.
I think the board might be tired of me talking about it, 😂

I went to three different stores before Home Depot. No one has bulbs for spring flowers. I want buttercups/daffodils. The ones currently in my beds do not bloom. I don’t know if I waited too late in the season or what

I am really curious as to how things will go when car manufacturers can finally sell these cars that are waiting on their chips. They will be outdated model years at that point. Will they have to discount them? Or will they fly off the shelves since new cars are difficult to find and used cars are at a premium right now?
I need to replace my vehicle but we are hoping to wait until Spring 2023 so that things have a chance to calm down. We'll see. We are getting close to the point where it doesn't make sense to spend a lot on repairs knowing that we will be buying a replacement in the near future. I want to hold out as long as I can, though, especially since we'd like to purchase used but the inventory just doesn't exist right now.
I asked my local beer distributor about it and the woman working there told me that they were told that Corona Light is in short supply because they can't make the caps for the bottles because of material shortage, so they're only releasing it in cans, but they can't distribute too many cans of it because then they won't have enough material to distribute regular Corona which is a bigger seller.
I miss Corona Light. OF ALL THINGS!
It's probably because we've been dealing with a Corona virus for the last 18 months.
....just kidding.
In all seriousness I haven't noticed much that I've been trying to find yet, but this thread is stressing me out. We did have to wait about 3x longer for windows than we were initially quoted, but they were installed over a month ago so that's not an issue anymore. Same with a new fridge a year ago.
It's been well over a year since I could find anything but the very occasional spears (which, frankly, are not great).
I need to learn how to pickle things I guess, but goodness knows I don't need another hobby.
Seriously! I needed pickles for a recipe and went to 2 different stores and could not find any. I finally ended up with a different kind than I needed.
Our CSA box has given us tons of cucumbers though so there’s no local shortage. I made some refrigerator pickles with them.
mysteriouswife, post all the things! I am a planner so knowing what we are facing is a comfort to me. This is all so interesting. I confess I don't quite understand why the supply chain is still so bad and just getting worse. I have read articles and I get some of it but some of it I just don't.
I think Patsy Baloney is right and I better stock up on things I'll need for holiday baking! Now if regular holiday stuff is unavailable and we end up with like Christmas tacos or something this isn't a bad thing in my mind, lol.
My plan is be done with holiday shopping this week.
My grocery has been wiped out of juice boxes for weeks. They also haven’t had Cheerios in sizes above 9 oz, although my second-choice grocery does have mega sizes.
I’ve been waiting on a West Elm order for around six months now. It’s to replace our hall light, which is hideous. I have the glass part, but not the base, and I can’t decide whether I should just wait it out, or return the glass and pick up something less pretty, but at least not ugly, at Lowe’s.
Also I cannot get an electrician to come over here to save my life. Not a supply chain issue, but there’s a whole wall that hasn’t worked since we moved in at the beginning of the pandemic, when obviously we didn’t want anyone coming in our house. I guess everyone is trying to get things fixed now?
I do find the car stuff the most interesting I think. We have friends that have been waiting for parts for months. There are very few rental cars. Prices for rental cars are through the roof. We are thinking about Hawaii next summer but it would be nearly $1500 for a rental car. That is just crazy. Will prices come back down once cars flood the market? You'd think they would based on supply/demand but on the other hand once people show they are willing to pay a certain price for something prices rarely drop.

In my job, delays are being caused in the factories, then the overseas ports, then the US ports, then the truck drivers to our warehouses, then being processed at the warehouse, then on the truck to the store, then being put on the shelf at the store.
There is a backlog in every step of the road. Overseas factories have rolling closures due to outbreaks, and they are behind already from past demand.

Appliances have been the worst for me. And furniture, although it wasn’t as urgent of a necessity. Our washer / dryer took forever. When our fridge broke it took us several days to get a replacement even though I picked one local and in stock because they couldn’t deliver it quickly. I got it delivered by a third party and that’s how long it took 😫
It seems like they are transitioning from Coke Zero to Zero Coke? No idea why, but I still have no idea why Coke Zero was made in the first place even though people really like.
Speaking of Coke, I find that every 2-3 months Diet Coke will be out of stock EVERYWHERE for about a week, but it always comes back (so far).
My H has been having a really hard time finding unflavored Topo Chico.
I can't stand Diet Coke, but will drink Coke Zero. It tastes different, better.
We hired a contractor to redo our flooring, closets, and trim back in September. The trim won't be available until late Nov. Also, a ceiling fan with light won't be in until late Nov.
We went to get our dog food, Royal Canin and there was a sign in the store saying due to supply they don't expect to get a shipment until 2022.

Oh, I know people like it. I just wonder why someone at Coca Cola headquarters thought “hey, let’s make this new thing that is ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE this old thing.” I really don’t understand the Coke Zero Sugar thing that came out recently. Alas, it is probably best for everyone I’m not making decisions at huge multinational corporations.
I also wonder if the Coke Zero shortage is supply chain or a push for their new product.
This post makes me really thankful that we finished our kitchen remodel (gut job) in January 2020, right before COVID. We’ve been struggling with the master bath (also a gut job) - glass for shower and fixtures, hardware were back-ordered for 6-8 weeks. We just got the glass installed today. At least we have other bathrooms to use, so it hasn’t been be as bad as being without the major components of a kitchen.

Our sectional that we ordered in May has been delayed 4 times now, new estimate end of Oct. Dh and I decided that if it's not here by the end of the year, we will cancel and look for something 2nd hand or just like in-stock at random furniture stores instead. I really want it to be here by Christmas though.
I had to order dd's Halloween costume 3 times. She wanted the same inflatable one that ds has. 1st one was way too big (adult sized when the package said kids). 2nd one was cancelled. 3rd one I had to pay $10 more than the first 2 but had Prime shipping so it is here now and she is happy.
I grocery shopped at Aldi today, and my bill was about $50 less than usual because they were out of things, or I just didn't do as much impulse shopping as I normally do there because there was nothing new and interesting that I wanted to try. Their seasonal aisle hasn't even had any Halloween decorations or anything all season.

l I'm in a factory that is causing delays to others. We can't get parts so then we delay further. It's a vicious cycle.

Anyone remember C2? It was out in the early 2000s I think. It was like half regular Coke, half Diet Coke. I don’t think it lasted very long.

mysteriouswife please share what you know, my kids will be opening gifts they like at Christmas likely because you told us to get our shopping done now!
Rice, individual bottles of Gatorade (and to the above poster youth and league soccer are over here).
We ordered a sectional, 2 ottomans, 2 chairs, and a sofa from Arhaus in March. They are now saying November. I've said it before, but the day after it is all delivered and the kids leave for school....I will be wrapping up in a blanket and laying on the sofa all day. It is extra deep and I want to watch movies on it with the fireplace on.
