Nothing currently
I am considering bringing up cleaning with DH
I am back to work and we are trying very hard to put my entire paycheck in savings and keep acting like we are broke. But I am a crying mess every Sunday trying to clean and worrying about the week. This was NOT the year to return to teaching.
Occasionally I’ll pay a teenager to weed whack but all our teenagers grew up and got real jobs. I’m thinking about asking some of the nieghborhood kids
DH and I both work full-time and have 2 kids. It's been much, much easier while working from home (once the kids went back to school obviously - it was an absolute mess while they were home) but mostly we outsource through paying for convenience. We have groceries delivered and use Amazon when it helps and just try to keep things really simple. We all clean the house together (the kids help at varying levels) on a Saturday morning so the rest of the weekend is free for whatever. We do have someone come to clean the outside of the windows once a month which just keeps things nicer in general.
I have someone I pay to do the ironing - haven't used her in a while as I've been home but i'll be back to the office soon so will need her again. I hate ironing so, so much so this is super worth it to me.
We have a robot vacuum and an every two weeks house cleaner. During the pandemic we started using a wash/dry/fold + delivery laundry service and we're going to keep it. msniq is in charge of lawn & garden and about once a year she pays somebody to do some of the weeding.
We send the kids to grandparents about one weekend every 4-6 weeks and try to tackle some home project or tidying. I am going to try and pitch msniq on sending them for two weeks this summer, and we'll organize the house during the week and take 3 weekend getaways in a row.
We have 2 kids 8 and 4, a pretty small lawn + garden, 2000sqft house.
There just aren't any great answers until the kids are older if both parents are working full time or close to it. There aren't enough hours in the day. Also it's okay! Lots of people have cluttered houses and get through life.
