For those that buy their own gifts for Christmas, do you buy it and then hand it to your DH to wrap?
I want a couple of designer items and plan to get them secondhand. DH could probably figure it out, but why complicate it? So I was going to buy and then let him wrap for Christmas.

For specific items, yes I will buy it and then give to him to wrap. I did this with my new Columbia ski coat last year.

Sometimes, but more often I end just wrapping it myself while I'm doing all the other wrapping.

I usually wrap my own. I end up doing most of the wrapping.
We're going apple picking this morning (mostly in it for apple cider doughnuts and slushies) before rain comes in. Then grocery shopping, a workout, and hopefully DH and I can get blinds and a couple of shelves up in DS's room.
H, DS(5) and I got invited to meet DS' school friend & her family at an outdoor agriculture event today (tractors, horses etc). First we try take two on getting DS his flu shot. If this time fails I'll call our pcp and nicely ask them to give him a flu shot at 4pm (they only do AM flu shots for some reason). I want to be with DS after to monitor him for symptoms (he frequently gets a fever etc from vaccines) and not have him miss school. PCP isn't open weekends.

I’m enjoying a comfy chair and my coffee while waiting on my oil change. I asked H last time to change the filters and such they recommended but he never did. I said screw it and I’m letting the dealer do it and paying $$$. H will be pissed, but oh well.
Just chilling having my coffee right now. The house is so quiet when FI is gone…it’s amazing that one man can seemingly make so much noise. I’ll workout in a bit, then I have to do SO MUCH laundry, try on my new Trunk Club box that came yesterday, and probably just settle in and watch You after that.
I took PTO on Monday and I just plan to have maximum relaxation allllllll weekend. Lord knows I need it.
Just drinking my coffee and getting ready for the day. I need to take DS2 for a haircut and then he has a football game from 1-3. We have to be there at 11:45 and it’s about 25 minutes away. I’ll find something to do to keep myself entertained. DH is hoping to get tickets for an air show and wants to take DS1.

I’m leisurely drinking my coffee, then I need to get my workout in. It’s beautiful here today - we had a 20° temp drop over night, so it feels like fall at 65° this morning. Lots of outdoor plans today to take advantage of this lovely weather while it lasts.
I think I slept 1.5 hours on our flight. It’s 4pm here, we’re having dinner at 6pm and I am STRUGGLING to stay awake so I can just crash for the night after dinner. It’s breathtakingly beautiful here.
Squid Game isn’t appropriate for a six year old, right? I haven’t seen it, but I have one pissed off middle child right now.
And speaking of inappropriate tv- I finally got to watch The Many Saints of Newark this morning! I loved it
I'm not a parent, but I don't think I'd let a kid watch it until at least high school. It's pretty dark and you often see people getting shot pretty graphically. There is no way it is appropriate for a 6 year old.
We watched episode 5 (i think?) last night and it was really brutal emotionally. It's a very good show but it's tough.

I’ve only watched the first episode of SG but it’s definitely not. Honestly my 6 yr old would get bored because nothing much goes on till the second half of the first episode. I also want to watch The Many Saints! H has never watched The Sopranos so he’s thinking he might watch the movie first then continue on to the show.
Busy weekend here! I took our cat to the vet at 9am today. He was unsurprisingly extremely offended about it. The pic they took for his rabies certificate was hilarious. But the vet is 5 minutes from our house and it was just a shots/wellness appointment, so we were gone a whole 30 minutes. He came home and told my H all about it with a series of like 100 meows, ate a couple of treats, and is perfectly happy now. Cats are so funny.
I have a massage in 45 minutes, then I'm going to Costco and Aldi to grab food for the week. I'm having surgery Monday so I plan to get a bunch of easy stuff for my H to heat up. And maybe some treats. Then I have to do 2 assignments and watch college football. And laundry.
Tomorrow we are going to the Raven's football game so that will be most of the day. We should be home around 6pm or so so I guess there will be a little time in the evening to hopefully finish up my assignments. They are due Monday/Tuesday and I don't expect to be able to actually work on them either day (maybe Tuesday but I don't want to count on it).

I turned 40 last month and it seems as though my body has decided it’s done working. I went to urgent care last week with chest tightness/pain - it wasn’t a heart attack or the other things they looked for. Maybe acid reflux or a small ulcer. Gave me medicine for that and I’m seeing my doc on Monday. But I’m still not feeling right. Not sick, just not right. And they told me not to have coffee and that just makes me sad.
It was questionably appropriate for my 12 yo 7th grader. We watched it together after the 6yo went to bed.
It’s rated MA. There is heavy amounts of gruesome violence, nudity/sexual content, fowl language and suicide. Definitely not suitable for 12 year olds.
We had a whole thread about this. Ok for some 12s not for some others. We watched with our 12 and it was ok for them.
Trying to think of something fun to do with my 12yo today.
My oldest is off with a friend to a college football game, my DH is working.
I was thinking maybe a local farm with corn maze and ice cream but he did that on a field trip last week so not sure he will want to do again.
Maybe work on a DIY Halloween costume together? Or baking Halloween theme cookies?
thanks, we made a plan. there's a cider press place not too far that we decided to head to for cider and doughnuts. On the way home there's a small corn maze where you collect colored rocks he asked to go to as well. lol. So we are off in a few minutes.

I meant to say 6 year olds, and corrected my response. I do feel like 12 is still a bit young. Not necessarily the violence part because video games are just as violent, but more the sex scene and the suicide scene.

This was a really hard week at work and I was so excited to sleep in today. My body woke me at 6:48 (shakes fist at universe).
We are doing a lot of nothing today because I want to try and recover a bit. Maybe I’ll take a walk later. My kids seemed to need a nothing day as well so hopefully no one is itching to do anything. Maybe I’ll nap later.

I think we both covered our eyes for that part, lol.
I’m still in bed. DH brought me coffee, so I’m just relaxing before I get going.
I need to figure out a food plan for both DH and MIL’s house, grocery shop, get a good amount of laundry done, and get the house tidied up.
Tomorrow I am going hiking with friends in the morning (assuming my rapid test is negative before I head out, 6 days from last exposure to DS2). After that, I need to pack up and head over to MIL’s. She’ll take a covid test. Assuming that’s negative, I’ll be staying there for the week so that she can go into work and I can work from there and maintain DS2’s isolation. I’m not excited about being exposed to him, but I really miss my kid. But being there is also going to make work harder next week, so it would be sort of nice if I didn’t have to do that since it’s only a few more days anyway. I feel very conflicted and wish this hadn’t happened.
The good news though is that DS2 and MIL are both doing great. They’re past the three days of stuffy nose and otherwise are doing just fine. And this extended separation of the kids has reinforced how much they really do love each other. They spent at least 30 minutes on video chat yesterday just goofing off together. It was really sweet.
