I think I slept 1.5 hours on our flight. It’s 4pm here, we’re having dinner at 6pm and I am STRUGGLING to stay awake so I can just crash for the night after dinner. It’s breathtakingly beautiful here.

It's cool and rainy here today. And supposed to continue throughout the weekend. We had plans to go with friends to a pumpkin patch and hay ride, but cancelled that due to the weather. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I just placed an Instacart order because I really didn't want to have to shop and cart out groceries in the pouring rain.
I'm making red coconut curry noodles with chicken tonight. Spaghetti and meatballs tomorrow. I'm definitely going to bake something. Maybe pumpkin chocolate chip cookies today and more apple crisp or an apple pie tomorrow (we apple picked last weekend and have lots of apples) Yay, comfort food.
Hit Joann’s this morning and some how spent like $80. This is why I try to leave my husband home when we shop! He wants to do some crochet project so we ended up getting a book and yarn. I was there for a $6 item and some thread. We are getting barbecue and then maybe hitting up the craft thrift store since tomorrow there is a game and there will be no parking. They’re having a huge sale this weekend. I think we are both trying to figure out some cold weather activities. I hate winter!
I had the worst Costco experience yesterday in the tire centre. Arrived for a 3:45 appointment to have winter tires installed, which should have been a 45-60 minute appointment. They said an hour forty-five when I dropped the keys off. When I checked in at 5:30 they said they were just torquing the tires and would be backing it out momentarily. At 6:00 they said they couldn't get the tire onto one of the rims and none of the tires had been mounted. At 6:30 they still couldn't get the tire on the rim. At 7:00 they put 3 winters and 1 summer on my car and sent me home because we'd been there for over three and a half hours. So they still have my rim and last winter tire. They seem to think they will get it on this morning and then I have to drive out there again to have it mounted on the car. Its over an hour round trip plus the time in the shop that I don't have on a Saturday and their communication last night was abysmal. I wouldn't have gotten updates if I didn't ask for them every half hour. I don't even know what the resolution is if they can't get the tire on the rim.

My H has been out of town these past couple of days and will make it home in time to go to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular tonight. I’m glad it’s on this year. We really missed it last year, and even though we made our own, there’s just a magic in a couple hundred pumpkins that you can’t capture in your back yard.
For those that buy their own gifts for Christmas, do you buy it and then hand it to your DH to wrap?
I want a couple of designer items and plan to get them secondhand. DH could probably figure it out, but why complicate it? So I was going to buy and then let him wrap for Christmas.
I wrap all gifts. H will secure the gift in a box and I wrap that. H hated wrapping and will just stick it under the tree. It has saved a ton of unnecessary grief. If I buy it for myself I wrap it too. DD has recently started wrapping gifts too

H and I are spending the weekend doing whatever makes feel happy. Kids are with my brother’s family. SIL sent me a picture of DS out and about not wearing a mask. 🤦🏻♀️ He is the only one in our two families not fully vaccinated. I am trying to breathe. He goes to school and the mask protects others and not him. The mask just feels like a security blanket for me.
Also, I will be eligible for a booster tomorrow. As soon as the FDA approves Moderna I’m will book my appointment. My doctor has already sent the letter of recommendation. The only time in my life my heart issues and asthma have a benefit.

It finally feels like fall today! We walked around our wildlife park to look at The animals and are now having lunch outside at the winery and are then going to walk around the grounds a bit. Later we plan to go to a local park during golden hour to try and get our yearly DIY family photo with our dog.
Last night we dropped the kids at the babysitters and went to dinner and then to see James Bond. We needed to pick up the kids at 10pm and the movie started at 6:45. I thought we’d have plenty of time, but there were over 30 min of previews and ads, so I was checking my watch frequently during the movie. It ended at 9:50 and we raced over to the kids and only ended up being 5 min late. It was really annoying.

this is what I’ve been waiting for. It’s still 85’ and sunny and I’m down right angry about it. I need 65’ and cloudy 😭
Edit: Also, if you’re trying to do a DIY photo shoot, a good iPhone app is Cap Cut. You can set the timer to go off as many times as you want. So it will continuously shoot so you can scroll through and pick the image (which I know is hard with pets/kids) Very helpful for collage style family photos.

We had a weekend getaway planned for Lake Erie this weekend. It was originally supposed to be just me and DH. Our childcare plan fell through and we ended up bringing the boys. We have an AirBnB townhouse right on the beach. Of course it’s cool, windy and this morning was super rainy.
We decided to get the boys out of the house anyway and go do the “hike” we’d originally planned. OMG. It’s one of those family memories that will be told for years. We climbed an observation tower, which was windier and rainier on top than expected. DS2 HATED IT. Lake Erie was so angry.
It’s clearing up now and after DS2’s nap we’re going to try a nearby winery.
heygrey, I love Costco in general, but their tire centers are the absolute worst. I don't know how they can be so bad and incompetent.
We went there for my old car and something always went wrong. The worst was the time they couldn't find the lugnut key (my wheels had one locking lugnut per tire, and the key had a little slot in the trunk with the spare where the jack and everything was). Anyway, the reason they couldn't find it was because the last time I was in they didn't put it back and they lost it.
Suffice it to say I was not happy when I found out they were rummaging through my glove box to try to find it and then accusing me of losing it when I never even used it. They got an earful and ended up paying to replace it, but we had to spend a couple of hours calling around to dealerships to find a replacement and driving about 1.5 hrs round trip to pick up the replacement. I was so pissed.
Now we always go to Discount Tire and get much better service.
Ugh DH took the route (from Colorado) through Kansas instead of New Mexico and there is nothing. At least fewer places to stop means we make better time home! Missing the mountains already 🏔

I went to a craft fair at a local high school this morning. I was able to go alone and enjoy myself and take my time. It was really nice! I love the craft fairs, especially the ones that benefit the high schools. My favorite one at Columbine High School is up next!
We are meeting ILs at a restaurant for my birthday. All I want is a cup of baked potato soup.

Where in CO were you?
We mostly stayed in Estes Park but spent some time in Boulder suburbs as well.

My dad is a terrible person for multiple reasons, I’ve posted about some of them here before. But this, this is something else. He got a letter in the mail telling him that he is fired as a patient from their local pharmacy. When my mom asked him what he did, he said he refused to wear a mask. He went off on the pharmacy tech about what a hoax Covid is, how stupid it is to get the vaccine, called her a sheep and a drug pusher.
I didn’t know a pharmacy could fire a patient, but I’m glad they did. They shouldn’t put up with that. I’m slightly surprised given that they live in rural Kansas, but I also know that means he was super bad. I don’t even know how I’m related to him.
followyourarrow I’ve definitely heard of customers getting banned from businesses for similar. At least his actions had some kind of consequence, even if it may not change his actions.
It was a nice day out (64, no rain) and I needed to drop off a piece of misdelivered mail anyway, so I took an almost 2.5 mile walk. It was great to be out in the fresh air and by myself for 45 minutes.
My H is on dinner duty tonight and I think we're going to watch the latest Halloween movie on Peacock. I looked it up and I think it's like the 12 movie total and maybe the 5th in the original timeline? And I'm not sure if I've ever seen any of the others except the original, but I'm also pretty sure that it doesn't matter.

I'm honestly shocked at how bad it was given how much I generally like the store. Ive used the tire centre once before for the same car and had no issues, but I'll never give them the chance again. Ultimately we had to get a new rim today and finally have the 4th tire on the car, but it was such a run around with abysmal communication. The manager on duty today was very apologetic, but I spent over 7 hours on this between driving twice and wait time plus probably another hour this morning trying to get them on the phone after they said they'd call.
I'll pay more and pick a place closer to home in the future. While we still would have had the issue with the rim, it would have been way more manageable if I were only a few minutes from our house vs. ~40 minutes away.
I've been wondering what HIH was and now I finally know. (I assumed it was high income households.) I was never on the bump (was on the nest) so I was completely unaware of what was going on. On the bright side, since I'm CFBC, I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
I wrote a novel about all the shit that is stressing me out right now and then deleted it.
I am taking some time off the second week of November and I cannot freaking wait. I’m just going to hang out at home and relax and it will be glorious.
Also, I got a paper cut on my palm getting a box off a shelf at ikea today and it really hurts. The palm is not a great place for a cut.
For the past two years or so people in my area have been posting on Nextdoor about Joro spiders. They're an invasive species from Japan. Not poisonous but big and very good at reproducing.
I'd seen pictures but had never seen any in real life so I was like meh, whatever. Welp, we have one in our backyard now. Granted our yard is not very big. It's the width of our town home which is maybe 20 feet (I'm horrible at judging size and distance so don't hold me to that lol).
Guys... the web spans our entire backyard. It's connected at the top to the gutters (two stories up) and then stretches across to the trees in the back. I cannot get over how big this thing is. And beautiful! When the sun hits the web it shines like gold.
But it's so freaking BIG. Pictures don't do I justice. Also, I'm really glad we've already cleaned up our patio garden, because that space belongs to the Joro now 😅
swimdeep I googled Joro spiders and they’re HUGE! But kind of pretty looking. We have banana spiders here (NW FL) that look similar. Google tells me the Joro spiders’ web actually has a gold hue to it. Sounds beautiful!

it really is beautiful! Everyone says we're supposed to kill them since they're invasive, but I haven't seen any actual government recommendations to do that. I think scientists aren't sure it's actually necessary yet. And I really don't want to kill it. I also don't want to be outside with it either lol
Ack, I need to nope right in out of this thread. Says the person who unknowingly vacuumed up a spider yesterday and then emptied it in the trash can only to notice something crawling back out of the can. I screamed so loud, and then my family member who took care of killing it was like “wolf spiders aren’t harmful and were probably keeping ants out of the house.” NO Thankyou!
