I currently have two full pockets of change because of what I found cleaning out my desk drawers. Why. Why do I have all this change, and why was it squirrelled away in my desk?

pixy0stix, you can go vacuum your car at the local gas station, get some snacks from a vending machine, and rent a shopping cart from Aldi. Oh, and take a ride on the Jersey turnpike (they still have the change baskets, no?).
How long ago was I wound up over my rotting, termite damaged walls? August?
We have one wall rebuilt. just need to paint the trim brown. Still one more wall to do. But we’ve had to pivot t the inside because we are refurbishing the fireplace and installing inserts. And the insert is scheduled, so we have to get the fireplace surround ready for the granite.

Jealous. Our dryer broke three weeks ago. We are still waiting on the piece needed to repair it so I'm driving wet laundry to the Laundromat and have used allllll the spare change DH had squirreled away.

I posted about this on Married Life, my manager denied my temporary medical work restriction and I am so upset about it. I have successfully been working under this restriction so I don’t know why it didn’t get approved for an extension. This is a fight I didn’t think I was going to have to have.

I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for tips on interviewing for a position in higher ed. I had phone screens with both universities I applied to, and have a second interview with one of them on Wednesday. So, thank you for all the tips everyone gave!
Illinois did. I can still remember the sound the change made when it hit the basket. I also remember the feeling of panic when the gate didn't immediately go up - thinking some of it didn't make it in.

Wow! That's so fast. Well done.
I’m going to tell H you said that. Because it feels like sooooooo long. And I really wanted to pay someone to do it so it would be done in weeks, not months. It was about 5 weeks to do one wall, and we still have another to do

Yes! I remember trying to simultaneously merge safely into traffic, roll up my window, and shift gears! It was a hot mess!

to be fair, right now trying to get a contractor on board with supplies in hand and working is a months process anyway....

And even when they're there they might...not be. Our neighbors told us that people repeatedly would stop by their remodel and offer their contractors cash to leave the job site for a couple of hours to go work on the other person's house.

Fair point. And a good reminder when I get impatient. Our replacement door just got pushed back from delivery next week until January. So yeah, it’ll be awhile.
Fun times. My employer has instituted mandatory overtime. It started as 12 hours/day, 6 days a week last week. As of today, they have decided to reduce it down to 10 hours/day, 6 days/week. And my job task has changed from being a desk jockey, to skilled labor, working a _very_ physically demanding job. I moved over 2300 lbs of stuff during my workday yesterday.
Oh, and all vacation has been cancelled. They might pay it out in cash what vacation time I haven't been able to take this year on my anniversary date next month.
Not sure how all this is going to work with closing on a house next week... We've already made the decision to hire movers to move everything, because I won't be able to take time off to do any of it.

I bought a new lighting fixture for our dining room. I asked friends how to install it, I looked up videos, I had my tools - I was ready.
Then I started to take the old one down, and remembered that the guys who lived there before us were less handy than we were and everything they installed was a mess. They added a plastic decorative medallion around it, but somehow managed to install it so that it blocks access to the screw holding the bracket up. I tried cutting it with a utility knife, but couldn't make a dent. My BIL said he should be able to help, but now I need to wait longer.
I'm so annoyed. DH insisted that we don't know anything about electrical stuff so we should have someone else do it, but I insisted I could. If it was just a normal fixture I totally could have.

This sucks.
WTF? I'm very curious what sort of job this is. The mandatory overtime you mentioned before was bad enough, but the switch in duties and the cancelled vacation??
I'm so sorry. What's the timeframe on this nonsense?

This sounds like a good way to lose the rest of their workers and tank the company.
Up until January 2020 I had great blood pressure. Since then it's been high from my normal and high per hypertension standards but nobody seems concerned. I know life stress, work stress, chronic pain, etc. is likely the cause but today at the grocery store it was 151/72! I don't know how accurate the grocery store machines are but this is the highest it's ever been.

Those tend to be inaccurate, I would recommend getting a monitor you can use at home. Omron is a good brand.

Thank you! I feel ignored about other issues and BP doesn't seem like it would be subjective. The only time an eyebrow got raised was when the lower number was 90.
