I finished Cloud Cuckooland by Anthony Doerr,3*. This is one of those books that you don't want to read unless you can completely focus on it. There are multiple storylines and those storylines are further split into storylines from different perspectives and times. Once I was finally able to keep everything straight and find a flow it was interesting, but the ending was a disappointment.
I'm currently reading Bluebird by Sharon Cameron.
QOTW: I had some of the best costumes growing up because my mom enjoyed making them when she couldn't find them in store. I was a Snork one year (a cartoon that I loved to watch). My mom did a really good job on that costume.
I’m almost finished with The Galaxy and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers, fourth in her Wayfarers series (though I don’t think they need to be read in order, necessarily). I really like these books — character driven sci-fi, so many different well-developed alien species.
QOTW: I was a butterfly in kindergarten with fairly simple cardboard wings that I thought were the most beautiful thing ever.
I’m in the middle of re-reading An Echo in The Bone and listening to Dial A for Aunties.
QOTW: I remember my Princess Leia costume in 1st or 2nd. My mom made the hair out of yarn and I had a white dress with a gold belt. I was telling DH yesterday how few pictures I have of Halloween over the years though, I am not sure I have one of that costume.
I read Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead. One of my favorites of the year. Very quirky, both heartbreaking and funny, and ultimately, life-affirming.
Now I’m reading This Will All Be Over Soon. It’s really resonating with me. I’ve never been a huge fan of Cecily Strong on SNL but her memoir is changing my mind.
QOTW: I was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz in 2nd grade. I had two really long braids, a custom-made blue and white checkered dress, ruby slippers, and a stuffed Toto in a basket.
I have been reading The Last Graduate (The Scholomance, #2) by Naomi Novik. I absolutely love it so far and should finish today. I'm just annoyed I am going to have to wait a while for the third and final book since this one just came out.
QOTW: I was the Statue of Liberty one year and my mother made me a torch by wrapping a flashlight in foil.

Last week I read The Ex Hex. It was fine. Super cheesy, easy, and fast. After reading some heavy stuff, it’s what I needed.
I also read The Inheritance Games. I didn’t know anything about it but really enjoyed this book. It was full of riddles and was fun to try and figure out.
I started Project Hail Mary two days ago and am about halfway through. I don’t read a lot of sci-fi but I’m hooked. I think it’s the writing style. It’s just so relatable.
I was Donald Duck one year. I have no idea where the costume came from (I think we borrowed it from someone) but the head was huge, it had full arms, legs, webbed feet, etc. It was really something.
