gretchenindisguise, OMG so frustrating! I would for sure call them as well. It sounds like people are getting through on the phone easier now so that's a little beacon of light <3

Is it ok if I live update? Because I'm just angry.
I was exactly correct. I called this morning and after a 15 minute wait - the 1st person I spoke with said: FL: "yeah, it says that your employer didn't mark you as currently working there." me: yes - I do not currently work there. As part of the pslf waiver [that you have on repeat on your waiting music] I don't need to be employed at time of forgiveness. FL: "oh right. I don't know what to do with that. Let me transfer you."
Now back in the waiting queue [side note: if you've already waited and talked with someone, why can't they do a direct connection to the next person?]. It now says "more than 20 minutes"
If fedloan hadn't marked that ecf as a 'duplicate' none of this would have happened - dept of ed would have just directed forgiveness and it would have bypassed fedloan incompetence.
Y'all. We have informed delivery that goes to H's email and he forwarded me an email of today's mail and it looks like there might be a refund payment there! I'm excited! I have no idea how much I'll get refunded because I missed the window to be able to see any amount but I'll take any amount!

gretchenindisguise, how frustrating! I hope the next person you talk to can help!
I'm still just trying to wait patiently over here, hoping to see some movement sometime soon. In theory, my account should be pretty straightforward under the waiver, but who knows. I'm giving them another month before I start calling to figure out what's going on, because I really don't want to have to start paying in May.

2nd person I talked to was the worst rep I've ever spoken with in terms of his level of seeming hostility over the phone.
He says that they were marked for final approval on March 6th and sent back to Dept of Ed for approval.
I'm going to go ahead and file a complaint because I'm just so annoyed by this whole thing. Maybe Randy or Sue of fb group infamy to write/call me back.
I guess while I’m here I’ll update/ask a question. H’s loans are consolidated, the amount appeared doubled but is now back to the normal amount. They are still showing up in nelnet and studentaid, currently studentaid says no payments made. This is all normal and sounds ok, right? Nothing he needs to do?

When you say it's still showing up in nelnet and studentaid, do you mean nelnet and fedloan? When you consolidated did you choose fedloan as your requested servicer?

Oh shit, I don’t know:( let me look
Ok so no, he has no account with fed loan. I requested the consolidation with the studentaid.gov website:( nelnet notified they were consolidated. Have We fucked it all up?
ETA: when I google pslf forgiveness it takes me to the studentaid website? I don’t remember it even asking for who to consolidate with, just to consolidate.
Doesn't studentaid.gov show all aid across servicers? I don't think it matters who consolidates - mine were consolidated from the very beginning after graduation and it was fine for PSLF
Fedloan is the only servicer for PSLF so if you are not currently with them you will need to transfer. I believe when you submit your ECF/PSLF forgiveness form that should trigger the transfer if you did not choose them as a servicer when consolidating. Please double check this though as I chose Fedloan as my servicer when I consolidated so this is a step that I did not need to take.
ETA: Because the paragraph above may not be helpful, once you complete the ECF/PSLF forgiveness form, if you do not have an account with Fedloan you will have to either fax or mail it to them - that contact information should be on the form. If you already had a Fedloan account then you would have been able to do an electronic upload. Again, please correct me if I am wrong on this if someone knows a better way to do this.

Yes it shows all loans, even with $0 balance. So it is ok to not have a fed loan account?
I was confused by this line “currently studentaid says no payments made.” I thought that was referencing pslf payments, which studentaid doesn’t show exact payment history. But maybe you meant a consolidation payment?
You will eventually need a fedloan account because they are the only servicer who does pslf. I’m so sorry if I didn’t mention that when you were consolidating.
When you consolidate you have an option to choose who you want to be tour servicer. If you didn’t choose fedloan, it’s ok. Your loans will be transferred to fedloan once they process your ecf.
mofongo , it is okay. You will get this. So, if I understand correctly, his loans are already consolidated into Direct Loans so you need to move to the next step. Go to this website - studentaid.gov/pslf/ If you have his login information and are doing all of the paperwork go into the help tool to complete it. The help tool should generate the form that he will need to get signed by all of his employers during his eligibility period. It is key that he gets a wet signature, not a digital signature as those are generally rejected. Once the form is complete, you can either mail it or fax it to Fedloan to start the transfer to them for PSLF.
ETA: You cannot make a Fedloan account if they are not yet your servicer so don't freak about that. That is normal.
You will not see those payments for PSLF until the ECF has been processed. It does not sound like you have yet completed an ECF. Go to the PSLF help tool and do that (https://studentaid.gov/pslf/). That is the step that needs to be taken to put him in the program and start the payment count (once Fedloan receives the form and verifies everything).
ETA: I am sure that you know this, but Fedloan and the Studentaid.gov websites are two different entities. The Student aid site is the federal government, Fedloan is the private servicer that does PSLF (like Nelnet is a private servicer). So, if he is not with Fedloan as his servicer, he cannot create an account with them but he do have a Student Aid account since he has federal loans.

Ok, I can’t make a fed loan account, I don’t know what’s wrong with the information? I have tried all forms of his name, since he has 2 last names.
I was talking about no payments like how y’all had said it would show 1 or something and then update to 120 or more. 😩😤
But where are you seeing that specific payment information? Maybe there’s a spot in studentaid.gov I haven’t uncovered, but I can’t find my actual monthly payment history there. Only the loan status. The pslf monthly payment counts that go to zero and then back up after the waiver is applied is all in fedloan. But again, very possible they added functionality I don’t know about in studentaid.
If I remember correctly, you guys already submitted the pslf form. And you either faxed or snail mailed it, right? Once that gets processes, the loans will move over to fedloan. You’ll be able to make an account with them at that point.
I didn't set up a FedLoan account (that I could access) until after I turned in my application and employment verification. Info like application received, loan transfer complete and ultimately a FedLoan acct number came via snail mail until then and it was fine. I used the account number they sent me to set up my FedLoan login stuff.
Once I faxed in my application with employment certification (right on the application) the process rolled forward and I literally did not have to do anything but wait.
Yep. That's exactly what I did and it all just rolled along - slower than I wanted but it still rolled! Took about 3 months for forgiveness and then another month for the refund that came today.
Ok experts tell me if I have a chance of a refund.
I am not with Fedloan, I don't think. I applied and my loans were sent over, and then they transferred me somewhere else without my permission and I didn't bother to get back enrolled.
I've worked in the public sector for 12 years.
My student loans are completely paid off. Can I get a refund or am I out of luck?
I was on the correct payment plan for PSLF, but then that got changed without my permission. So then they told me if I do income base payment plan, then I could qualify but due to my H's higher income that would have just paid off my loan (and they restarted the 10 years then and didn't count the previous 10 years).
I made 120 payment + never missed one and all taken out with direct deposit. The only ones I would have missed is when the government paused automatic withdrawals due to the pandemic. I then called them and asked them to start it up again.
Do I need to join this FB group? Or is it pointless, and I will not get a refund of my 12-15K or 20K or whatever they think was eligible.
Do you see how many times things were changed without my permission. They basically just did whatever they felt/ wanted to do or did not do what I asked when I called in with no repercussions.

What if I already received forgiveness under PSLF or paid off my loan? Can I get a refund for payments that did not count toward my forgiveness but that count under this limited-time opportunity?
If you have already received forgiveness or paid off your loans, you are not eligible for a refund of prior payments.
bex1973, gretchenindisguise - we received the letter jan 28th that they had received his application, so hopefully we hear something soon:)
I hope so!
It seems like wait times just keep getting extended. I included that in my letters today, Biden needs to continue the payment pause at least until this mess is taken care of.
My loan news - last week I got letters saying my loans were finally at FedLoans and yesterday I got a letter saying I don’t have enough payments, so now just waiting on the waiver to be applied.
