If my pan drippings are already cold, is there any reason

If my pan drippings are already cold, is there any reason why I can't blend flour directly into them and then bring to boil?
I know I can't add flour directly to hot pan drippings, but they are not hot and I don't want to increase the volume, I just want to thicken. Thanks!

The drippings should be at least warm for it to work well.

Or add a mix of flour and water to them when they are boiling.

If you add them cold? You’ll end up with a gluey mess.
