Update #2 So we are keeping the drop leaf table in the entry and I'm looking for pillows for the chairs to add color. I also added a lamp. I have taken the great advice here and am giving up on the mirror. I have contacted a local artist friend to get a quote on an original (large) piece of art. I gave her approximate size, colors I like, and showed some art I like as inspiration. Waiting to hear back on cost. I've also ordered a wall mounted coat tree for above the chair by the door.
I did buy a round, brass mirror today, but am hanging it in our mudroom instead.
OP: This is our entryway from our front door. We enter thru our mudroom off the garage, so this isn't a high traffic area. We recently repainted walls and I decided not to rehang what we had on this wall. Thinking of maybe a round or rectangle mirror. The round one I saw is 34 in vs the rectangle is 24×36. Is that enough for this wall? Which shape would you choose and would you look for a bigger mirror? What else would you hang if anything?
Ceilings are 11 foot here. I have considered maybe hanging a few hooks for guest coats. Other than that I am at a loss. Update: Update #1 Doing some rearranging due to our new furniture. Needed a place for this drop leaf table. It's a family heirloom I will always keep. It is not as long as the console table, but it is wider. It is too wide to put behind our sofa, so the console table is behind the sofa and this is now in the entry.
I think the main thing is I need to downsize the mirror a little now. I had picked a 42 inch round mirror. Now I think I will get one around 28 inches as this table is 41 in long. Going to get pillows for the chairs. I think I will do those things and see how it all looks with the mirror hung up and also a few knobs for coats. I do have my great grandparent's wedding certificate framed (date Dec 31, 1899) that I could hang to the right of the table, above the plant. Wedding certificates were beautiful back then. I don't think ours is that pretty. A lamp may be nice too. I have one I might move there later.
Update 3
We added some colorful art. As we continue to travel more we hope to buy more art and can move these to a guest room, but adds a nice pop of color for now. Pillows will be delivered next week. Coat hangers also ordered.
I would do a round mirror. Size I can't really say because it's hard for me to picture what 34" would look like over that table. I'd want it to cover, like, at leas the middle 2/3 of the table.

I measured and looks like I need a bigger mirror. I found a 42 inch one that should work. I love that art and the colors dr.girlfriend. I started looking and found some prints of my state in similar colors that might work off to the side of the mirror.
lovely space - I think you could put 2 pretty hooks, maybe staggered high and low on the wall behind where the door swings open. Always nice to have a couple hooks for guests. Other than that, I like a mirror in a foyer, it's classic and nice to guests and checking yourself out before you leave the house. If you go large on the mirror, I'd lean towards two smaller art prints. I'm not sure if 2 large scale pieces next to each other would look right. And once you get the art, I'd get a couple cute bolster or small pillows for your chairs that pic up on the colors or something w/ texture (like crewel).
You could also do buffet style lamps on the table, but that's a more formal look. I like Dr. G's inspo' pic better.
Do you WANT a mirror, because you want to be able to check reflection on the way out the door? Or is it just a space filler? I feel like people gravitate toward mirrors a lot, but I don't share that preference in most circumstances. I only want mirrors if they're there for a good reason, like I want to see something, or I want to reflect a great view/light/etc. I don't like them over the fireplace, and a lot of other places people toss mirrors up.
The challenge that I see is that with 11' ceilings you want something pretty large so it isn't dwarfed by the wall. OTOH, I don't think it looks good when the art is wider than the piece of furniture below it. With the drop leaf table being so narrow, you're setting up a tough set of parameters. Maybe some kind of loose gallery arrangement?
Do the chairs need to stay there? I agree with Susie , both in that it's a tough set up and that you can probably make it work. The chairs make it harder, IMO, and make it look a little like a waiting room. I don't think there is enough room to put the two chairs next to each other, sort of angled. Could one chair be moved elsewhere in the house?
You need some height variation. I'd look for a tall piece of art that is slightly more narrow than the table and a lamp. A floor lamp could actually work in place of the chair closest to the door, both to add some height variation and fill space a bit.
IDK if it helps but our front door opens up to kind of a hallway and here's how we decorated:
I like that. I have the chairs there as we are a no shoes house and my parents need to sit down to take their shoes off. I have a bench that looks very similar in size to yours. I might play around with moving the bench there and pushing one of the smaller tables down.

I now have a wide but shallow wicker basket under the bench for shoes. :-) We keep our "primary" set of shoes on the doormat but it's good to have backup shoes put away neatly for now (and hopefully eventually will have built-in cabinets in the laundry room, which is that doorway next to the table).

I agree with a large piece of art over the table - not a fan of coat hooks - would you really use them? It seems like it may be awkward to hang coats over a decorative type table. If you need coat storage for guests could you do a coat rack/tree to the left of the table?

The coat hooks would not go over the table. They would go over the chair to the left of the table. We would use them to hang guest coats/purses. Right now they just get flung on the chair. Thanks for your input! I like the idea of art, but I also tend to buy art that is of a place special to us or an artist special to us, and haven't bought art just for decorating sake if that makes sense. That's why I've leaned into the mirror idea more, plus the light reflection there would be pretty, but it would be easier to do art there scale wise.

I think it’s too big of a space for a round mirror unless you want to add small art prints on each side of it. There could one one medium on each side or two small stacked on each side. I think a round mirror would look out of scale if you went too large to fill up the horizontal wall.
My entryway is smaller and not symmetrical but I have a wood frame octagon mirror above a piece of furniture and a macrame wall hanging on the blank wall next to it.
I love the idea of a large dramatic horizontal canvas there but if that’s not your style, a mirror, decorative wood carving or wall hanging that isn’t picture art would be great. I usually hang something cheap / temporary while I look for the perfect art piece to replace it.
I love the plant and having chairs there! I would replace the chair on the left with a coat tree to give some height and an a large piece of artwork above the console. The console seems a little low and while I don’t think it’s a must, you may want to look for a taller, more substantial piece to anchor the space. It might look nice to move the plant to the console, especially if you replace the chair on the right with a bench. ETA: for some reason the update wasn’t showing! Would you be open to a larger fair chair? The sizing of the table and chairs is a little off for me. I would do coat tree, plant stand, table, larger fabric chair. Vertical art above the table.
Custom art sounds perfect! I’m looking forward to seeing it if the quote comes back good for you. And even though you didn’t ask for recs, my go to for decorative pillows is World Market.

So I posted on ML that the artist is booked up and suggested I paint a picture myself.....oy!
I'm looking around for other artists. I am also considering doing a large scale framed piece. Is this weird? I have my grandmother's mink stole that I will never wear. Would it be weird to have that framed? Or I also considered framing my wedding dress.

Idk, just bouncing around other ideas
I'm no design expert, so take my input with a grain of salt, but I can't really see either of those in that space. I'm not against the idea of a shadow box of sorts, but I feel like you'd need something else inside.
If you're thinking beyond art on canvas, how about a tapestry or a framed map?

I would not mind a framed tapestry if it came from travels somewhere. Maybe we will go on a trip out of the country in the next year and find a piece. We have a map in our breakfast nook that we put pins in for all the places we travel.
