Unfortunately this carpet was probably cheap 15+ years ago when it was put in by the house's former owner. The fact it held up--or mostly so--this long is pretty remarkable.
I hadn't realized LVP had gone up so much in price; we installed ours three years ago and it wasn't nearly so expensive! Have you looked at the options at Costco? Looks like it's about $3/sf and there are several colors.
Everything is crazy right now! I saw a few things at Home Depot and Floor and Decor. The Coretec that I want is about $6.50/sq foot. I have one in the running that is $4 from Floor and Decor. The color looks good; I want to see how it looks with some of the paint chips I picked out.
Costco is about $2.50/square foot for stuff that is good. The problem is that the company that insurance is paying has to be able to buy it retail. I don't think they can at Costco. Plus, I really want something with a 20mil wear layer. Those start around $4/sq foot. Home Depot does have some under $2/sq foot.

My husband exercised 8000 shares of stock options through his work. Turns out, the market price went up the day he exercised his options, but the company (or his company's contracted company) hadn't updated the website with the new value. The new value was 3x more than what the website listed. So now we owe a significant amount in taxes. Blah.
A receipt for antigen self tests has been on my refrigerator for months waiting for my husband to submit for reimbursement. He is way too blasé about mail and small amounts of money. I finally just submitted through my insurance company which I should have done in the first place. I just wish he would step up sometimes. As soon as I submitted the request, H came into the room and said that our senior cat had had a bout of diarrhea in my Birkenstocks, so $50 in, $125 out.
We are fairly conservative with money (or at least I am) so even though our income has tripled since we bought our current home we figured we would stay until our youngest starts public school and then move into something bigger, using daycare money to help pay the bigger mortgage.
Of course in the last 1.5 years home prices here have increased a ridiculous amount. We were planning to buy in the $450-$500 range and now those same houses are $650-$700. Our smaller, less expensive house also went up in value, but not by $200k. Not to mention an already high property tax bill being even higher. Being conservative has come back to bite us in the ass.
Same with cars. We drive our cars for 10+ years. Of course mine is hitting the point where repairs are starting to be $$$ and I would like to just replace it entirely. Except car shopping is awful right now with no deals to be had.

I feel ya on some of this.
We're hitting the time where we had planned to do home renovations (which we have, some) and get a bigger family car. Last daycare payment is this spring (except some summer camps stuff each year). OF course, now that we'll have that wiggle room, renovations costs are sky high as are car prices.

Honestly, I think some things you just can't time. We bought our cars in 2011/2012 and I can't remember why but gas prices were at an all-time high, so you couldn't get a used care and fuel-efficient new cars were just going for list price. We bought both our cars then but we didn't have the option of waiting! At least they've held up.
