Especially after having taken care of too many patients in ICU with vertebral artery dissection following the chiro.
Please give a dumbed down and censored if need be explanation of what this is.
For the love of god please don't let me Google this.
You have a very large artery that runs on each side of your neck that brings blood to your brain. The adjustment causes these arteries to have a tear in their wall that leads to a clot to form, impeding blood flow and causing a stroke. For the area I live, the number I've seen has been too high for me to ever go back to a chiro.
I have a n=1 experience with a chiropractor because I was very leery for years and years. I had an issue with muscle cramps in and around my shoulders and mid-back. I did trigger point injections, PT, etc. on and off for two years. And out of nowhere my back would spasm and I’d be sidelined for days. I found a chiropractor near me that seemed legit based on his affiliations with a large, academic hospital. He is incredibly gentle and not the type of chiro to snap and pop things. It’s gentle pressure and almost like massage. I’ve had such a good experience with him and have been pain free for several months in a row, which is such a relief.
That said, if this guy retires I don’t know if I could find another one I trust like him. I’m still leery.
