I am, however, ready to burn it down on management. We got our office opening date, and we will be going to a hoteling/far for WFH than before. Yay! This has me so worked up… they made us clean out “our” cube, and I mentioned early I was concerned that the 6am people will claim everything, and the 8am arrival folks will be left in the dark corners (like seriously dark, dank, etc), but I was assured a reservation system will be in place. And they went back on their promise. And these asshole will be like “you can reserve, with a sticky note.” And tell us that with no self awareness that it is not a real solution.

I guess this is a hint that this is not a permanent thing… maybe another 6 months.

This makes no sense.  You can easily setup a shared calendar system in sharepoint or outlook.  It's legitimately not rocket science.

Right?! I came up with something like 5 options in the 20 minutes I was bitching to a friend about it.

Well we've been hybrid since last July and yet there's no consistency within my own command and higher.  Some offices are back more, some haven't come back at all. It's just a cluster, but I shouldn't be surprised.  The govt does a great job of being its own enemy 90% of the time.

I dreamed last night that Vladimir Putin publicly announced that he’d only consider ending the assault on Ukraine if the US would send Trump to negotiate. And the US didn’t send him but Trump went to Moscow of his own accord and had one of those bullshit secret closed door meetings with Putin, and then Putin praised Trump’s negotiation skills and agreed to stop the invasion. Then Trump got a huge bump in popularity in the US, handily won re-election in 2024, and immediately pulled the US out of NATO and then Putin invaded Ukraine again plus several other neighboring countries.

I told MH about it this morning and he just paused for a beat then said, “yeah, that sounds like it could happen.” Ooof.
