DD2 played very well in her second game tonight. But I noticed that the coach benched her for her last shift. He approached me after the game and said she was screwing around on the sideline with a teammate and neither one would stop when he asked, so he benched them both. He is ultra patient so it must have been bad - I wasn’t paying attention to the bench.
So kind of a bummer of an ending. But they won, and she played hard. I told her she owes her coach an apology tomorrow- 2 more games. And I took away her iPad. So I hope it sink in that it’s not ok…
Well I finally got the email that DD made the club soccer team. I’m happy for her, and she really wants to do it. But, I had wanted her to stay with rec and DH was the one that wanted her to tryout (and DD of course). So I’m a little meh about it.
Tournament wrapped up today. DD2 team went undefeated and won their bracket! And DD2 scored in the finals! She seems to have a renewed love of the game. She has one game left.
The tournament itself was a disaster. Overflowing ports potties, trash everywhere, and we didn’t have one ref in 4 games. They usually have paid refs for all games, and some higher tier teams were assigned refs, but for our tier, the parents had to do it. I don’t know the rules well enough and I felt terrible that I couldn’t help.
The clubs pay a lot to enter these tournaments. I was really not impressed.
Our softball league hosts a big memorial weekend all-star tournament every year, which helps offset a lot of the league's costs for the rest of the year. So in addition to four softball games, I had some snack bar shifts. It was a fun weekend, but our team lost three games and tied one. They were all really exciting, close games, but it would have been nice for the girls to win one. The team also had a pool party at one teammate's house on Saturday, and then we hosted one at our community pool yesterday. This weekend's tournament starts with a 4:45 pm Friday game and we are pretty far away from the location + traffic.
DD2 got her back dive yesterday! Ahh, it was so exciting to see how proud she was! She has been so afraid of it, and just practiced it over and over yesterday until she got it. Her coach was ecstatic for her.
I am so glad that soccer will be done this Saturday and the temps will be in the mid 70s. DD doesn't do sports and DS2 only does soccer.
DS1 is so stinking cute at taekwondo. He loves doing all the strikes and kicks and is a sweaty smiling mess every time. The fact that the instructors also expect them to be respectful and courteous in and out of the dojo makes it even better. DS1 also loves it when I do the family classes with him.
We'll both be testing for our next belts at the end of June!
