How many days for Portsmouth, NH

Family of 4, kids are 12 & 15. We are splitting the trip between Boston and another location and based on what I have read, Portsmouth seems like a good choice.

We land at Logan on a Friday night and fly home the following Saturday at 7pm. I was thinking of staying in Boston until Tuesday or Wednesday and then go to Portsmouth. How’s the drive between Portsmouth and Boston? If bad, we may spend the last night in Boston.

If you don't hit rush-hour, the drive is fine - a touch over an hour. I like Portsmouth, but the town itself, I don't think you need more than 1 day. If you're using it as a base to see Maine and other NE coastal areas, then you could easily stay as long as you have day trips to enjoy.
