I thought these assholes want a small government. And now you care about big businesses paying taxes? Fuck off DeSantis. He truly is one of the biggest threats to our country and our democracy. Scary shit.
If enough people move out of “purple” states and into Texas and Florida, can the electoral college work in our favor? Wishful thinking? 😩
I think about this every time I hear about Californians moving to Montana. We could eat Montana in a second; the whole state only has a million people. And that’s two Senate seats right there.
I do think the pandemic — and the era of remote work it ushered in — will do some long-term reordering of politics. Let’s hope anyway.

We are moving back to Florida after nearly 7 years in Colorado. We are moving to be near my parents. We will definitely register for the elections this year as democrats.

We just moved out of FL because if we had to hear more gushing about the governor and how FL is the only FREE state in the country we were going to lose our damn minds.
We only moved there ten years ago, and our area was pretty blue when we moved - we were hopeful that with the diversity and influx of younger people moving there, it would get better and better. Nope.
I watched a documentary last night - Our Father - and a woman found out about a group (cult) called Quiverfull and their aim is to have lots of children and guide them into politics. Then - once they have all these people placed at all levels of government, Bible law will become civil law.
This is frightening and unfortunately I feel like we're seeing the beginning of this.
(But yet, I'm sure these people still call themselves Patriots even though NONE of this has anything to do with how this country was founded. Oh but yea, the 2A is still totes cool even if the rest of the Constitution can be scraped.)

There was a time that I would have called this a conspiracy theory if I heard it. It’s wild to me that I read this and thought that it could be starting to happen.

The Duggars are part of quiverfull. This is nothing new if you've paid even half attention. Kathryn Joyce wrote about it over a decade ago.

@@@ I grew up Christian, but not Evangelical, and remember hearing as a child that the more kids you have, the more people you can bring to Christ. My parents didn't push it, but I certainly remember hearing it from people at church (Lutheran). So this doesn't shock me one bit.
