I just found out that DH messed up his summer vacation request for the wrong weeks and now he can't move it because other people in his department already booked the other weeks off. I've already arranged all the kids' summer camps. I'm fuming. He kept claiming I didn't "tell him the dates". I told him it's the last week of July and first week of August. How hard is to figure out?
I have a stupid sinus infection and the doc in the box fools who saw me Tuesday can’t seem to get it together to call in my prescriptions. Dude, I need the antibiotic and prednisone. How hard is this?
So I just called and apparently the doctor didn’t put in my chart that she was calling in anything. So that’s great.
I’m tired and feeling kind of crappy. Not really sick.
Just work was super busy and also strange today and I’m still recuperating from the huge Bridging party I had to plan. Yes we were in the news, yay, but it was a lot of work. Luckily everyone came together and worked together, but there were about 100 people there. So it was a crowd/ event more akin to a wedding ceremony plus dessert reception (minus the getting married part), but on the same scope and scale.
waverly I am planning my troop’s bridging ceremony for this weekend. My vent is that my co-leader (who works in BANKING) doesn’t know how to budget and is going to basically run our troop account down to $0. We won’t have any start-up money for the fall. 😡😡
New bed is here. Just placed the order for a new fridge since ours died. And the washer just threw an error code at me and stopped working. So time to call the repair guy I guess. Just hemorrhaging money left and right over here! I thought that my unexpected bonus would be put to good use on the new bed, and now everything else that is much more crucial is breaking. When it rains it pours!
vasc , that's too bad. We kind of have the opposite problem, but we were able to buy all the girls vests, pay for bridging, and no have to charge troop dues with all the fundraising. I am not sure what our balance is now, but I think we will have 1K starting next year. But yes prior to the pandemic there was too much fundraising because they had 4 in 9 months.
I just taught my favorite lesson of the year. I had my kids make vision boards with longterm goals and barriers. I did a pretty feeble job of making and example. My goals at that age were go to college and get a degree, not much care as to what, and have a nice house that my future kids will be proud to bring friends. So my drawing of a house was not great. But they got the gist and it's fun to watch kids think about big dreams and goals.
My tagline for the class used to be, in 10 years, when I see you at Walmart, you are living your best life. Then a couple of years ago, a kid piped up and asked if they are living their best life, why would we all be at Walmart? Fair. So I had to change it, when we I see you at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean.
waverly what other fundraisers do you do besides cookies and fall product?
Pre Covid, all the troops in our town did Pancake Breakfast and Spaghetti dinner. In order for the troop to be eligible they had to meet quotas for fall product and cookie sales. I didn’t love the quotas but during Covid they also gave us the option to not meet the quotas or choose not to sell and just donate. They understood some would not want to sell during Covid.
