It was a long weekend involving sports. Lots of drama and uncertainty for both kids. But soccer and basketball wrapped up, and I feel like it's a weight off my shoulders.
Saturday was a ton of running around for the kids - sports, drop offs, pick ups, etc. Sunday both kids had their last games, and then I got to listen to DD1 yell at me because I couldn't spend the day at the pool watching friends because no one had clean clothes and I was trying to keep getting organized for camp. Since I'd spent the previous day either in the car or supervising swimming, I needed the day to work around the house. DH either worked or worked on his camper all weekend.
This week DD1 has 2 softball games and DD2 has 2 soccer tryouts. DD1 started yelling at me upon first laying eyes on me this morning, so I'm very excited to tell her that we can't make it to arts night at her school because it conflicts with DD2's tryout.
Also, I ran over a squirrel with DH's car this morning.
Here's hoping the week starts to look up.
DH is going away next weekend for a kid-free break. My kid-free break is the week after. I'm counting the days. I'm in desperate need of a break.
We had a really good meeting at the school this morning to discuss DD2's 504 plan with the guidance counselor, school psychologist, and her teacher. We talked about the potential for an autism diagnosis as an explanation for what's going on with her. Everyone seems to be on the same page - if she's on the spectrum, she's extremely high functioning because she has really solid social skills. If anything, she's too social and doesn't have good boundaries. The school psych explained that it's easier to teach kids to tone it down than to teach kids to learn those social skills to begin with, so she's not concerned. At this point we won't be pursuing the testing or actual diagnosis, but the school is going to connect with her OCD therapist and see if we can build in some other accommodations. They were all really understanding that we want to get this worked out now, while we still have a year left in the small elementary school, before she gets dumped into our giant middle school and flounders.
Only two weeks left of school! We're all counting down big time!
Wole up to beautiful water this morning. The water in the gulf is some of the prettiest I've seen this year. Spending the day on the beach. Some shopping and airboat rides are on the itinerary this week. The girls look so cute and grown up strolling the beach. I bought Dd his Tom Cruise sunglasses for his promotion and he missed vacation.
Dh had his interview before we left. I really hope he gets it. It will be tough. There were 16 candidates. He felt good, he knows all production of the place, but someone may still have more experience.

twinmomma, we're in Texas so your mileage may vary but we have a close friend that was diagnosed as autistic that I wouldn't have initially guessed - getting that actual diagnosis was so helpful. It just opened up an IEP vs 504 and a lot more services.
But Texas can be chintzy with services. At least our district is.
mustardseed2007, I think if we truly fight for it, they would do the testing for us. But for us the issue is she doesn't struggle at all academically because she's so highly gifted. So school doesn't want to necessarily pay for the testing because it's not impacting her education directly. We're going to chat with the pediatrician about it at her annual physical this summer and keep working with the therapist in the mean time. My sister is an ABA therapist who specializes in autism so I have a really great resource available and even she was 50/50 on it for DD2.
We had a really fun softball weekend. DS2, who is almost 5, was really challenging all weekend, but then he slept over 12 hours last night, so maybe he was just really tired. I'm looking forward to having a pretty normal work week this week before elementary school ending and DS2's pre-k promotion next week.
DH freaked out yesterday about summer travel. Our airport is under construction and he keeps reading about how this summer will have lots of travel issues because of many travelers and limited capacity, plus traveling with the four kids being challenging to start with. I told him I'm not losing thousands of dollars by cancelling non-refundable vacation rentals just because of an abstract fear. We had a flight cancellation mess last summer, but we got home eventually and I'm still glad we went. Then last night my parents flew to Europe and their first flight had to turn around and go back to the airport and make an emergency landing with emergency vehicles meeting the plane and everything. They eventually took off again a couple hours later on a new plane and are now safely relaxing at their hotel in Germany. I'm not telling DH about this issue
Hilarious Monday story: My lawn guy is hot. It's a joke between all the swim team moms about who uses him and how much we all love lawn day. Apparently beau never really noticed that this young, muscular tattooed guy shows up once a week and mows the lawn with no shirt on. Until today. All of a sudden he comes into my office and is like "Wait, THAT'S the lawn guy?! Is he from when you were divorced and single? What did you do, just sit on a lawn chair with a drink and watch?!" LOL I'm dying. He's been home when this guy comes to mow the lawn plenty of times, but never really noticed the lack of shirt I guess. The guy does a great job and he's a super nice guy who's kids go to the same school as mine so I like supporting him instead of a big landscaping company.

We had a good weekend. Hockey finally wrapped up. Wohoo! DD also told me that she does not want to do figure skating in the fall - I'm so glad. My kids have too many activities and I hate saying no, so the fact that she's willing to drop an activity is music to my ears.
I'm playing catch up today after having a long 5-day weekend. I enjoyed the time off and didn't really do a thing. I do have a clean house as we had company for dinner last night. The weekend was rainy and gloomy.
10 more long days of school left, and DD is ready to be done. She is pretty annoyed that it is schoolwork as normal for the online kids next week while in person kids have movie days, field trips, field days, etc.
It was a low key weekend for me since I had laryngitis. Saturday was the last soccer games for the boys. DS1 actually scored his first and only goal of the season! He was pretty excited about it. Then I had to help coach the U5 kids, which is great when you don't have a voice to yell at them. Then I crashed hard when we got home. I took a nap, got up and ate some dinner and then collapsed again. On Sunday, I had to put in some hours for work since we are trying to get a software release done by the end of the month. The weather was beautiful all weekend - mid 70s with sunshine and a breeze. I turned off the air conditioning and opened all of the windows. It looks like the weather will stay that way for the week.
It’s the last week of school and both kids have all fun days left. Dh leaves Saturday for a weeklong overseas work trip so I’ll be solo parenting the first week of summer while onboarding a new group at work. Summer camp doesn’t start until the second week.
We are getting a little closer on the yard project. We should have the backyard concrete poured this week, hot tub is delivered later this month, ordered patio furniture last night. Once the concrete is done the turf and plants will go in and they will build the deck. I’m ready for it to be done!!!!

Beau and I took DS to a local parade on Saturday and met his DIL and grandson there. Grandson came home with us and spent the night. The weather was supposed to be rainy all weekend but luckily held off for the parade and rained the rest of the weekend. Sunday we let the boys get some energy out at the trampoline park and then took Beau's grandson home. It was a pretty low key weekend but seemed to fly by.
We know that "at least" 3 kids in DD's class have covid and are out for the rest of the year. And thankfully (for us, not glad that she's got it also), one of them is DD's bestie, so there's hope for us. Trying to keep her entertained while we work yesterday was rooooooooough. So far today, they've been on messenger and playing roblox non-stop. Also, DD let me know its funny that her friend has it, because her friend has always said they should have a covid pact and get it at the same time. (I'm honestly not sure how they were planning to coordinate that..)

DS and DD had their play this weekend, so we were pretty non stop the whole time. I worked a ton on costumes for this production and yesterday I was exhausted and just slept and slept. I did check email and had a very stern conversation with a vendor so I was adding SOME value.
DS turned right around and started a theater camp yesterday. I was worried he would say it's too much theater but since it's not a play and it's just learning different musical numbers and vignettes, he's been fine with it and really enjoyed it. Thankfully!!
