No insane stress to find testing and pay for it and the what ifs of someone asymptomatically testing positive for our trip to Belize in August.
Agreed! We are going to Mexico in November (still a long way off, I know), but the thought of not having to test my family including kids makes me happy. They did say testing could come back with new waves, but I can’t really see it happening. Masks aren’t even required most places anymore, I can’t see this coming back.

I don’t think they will bring it back either. It really serves no purpose. Doesn’t keep covid + people from traveling, doesn’t keep covid out of the country, doesn’t keep variants out of the country. I’m not sure what they felt like it actually did other than discouraging people to travel internationally and causing headaches for people who dared to travel internationally?
We were just in Italy last month. It was pretty easy to find a place to test (and cheap) but both of us had a faint positive. The doctor asked if we had any symptoms (no) and we are double vaxxed and boosted. He asked why were were testing (travel or sickness) and we said leaving to fly back to the US. He then said OK negativo!! We were sooo relieved. We both tested again when we got home and both were negative.
I agree I don’t think it helps. H and I were in Croatia last month. We tested at the airport literally a couple hours before our flight, both negative. We got home went to bed and H woke up feeling like garbage so he took a home test and it was positive. I’m grateful we got home and weren’t stranded but there is no way he wasn’t infected 24 hours before.
I doubt it. They’ve been asking Biden to remove the policy since February.
American airlines definitely not, but maybe foreign ones I mean.
Oh gotcha. Still doubt it.
I think it’s a huge PITA to deal with from the airlines perspective mostly. And with it not being required across the board the people will be confused/angry/frustrated and I don’t think it’s worth the trouble for the airlines.
