I am torn about timing and will have to call the pedi. The girls will definitely get vaccinated. They turn 5 in October and already had covid once; they will be in public school in the fall. To me it’s a bit of a toss up of vaccinate now or with the 5-12 dose. My parents, who are the most susceptible, don’t have a preference.

Do you not want Moderna? Im pretty sure the under 5 Moderna is a higher dose than the over 5 Pfizer.
I clearly need to talk to the pedi. I figure everyone will need enough boosters that it won’t really matter, but I don’t want to get to 5 and be like, why didn’t we just wait the few months 🤷🏻♀️
I'm in Canada and historically our vaccines have been approved within weeks of the announcements in the US. The data was submitted to Health Canada awhile ago so it should be any day now...
We had COVID in March but once the <5 vaccine is approved I'll take DS2 for it (who is currently 16 months). The rest of us are all fully vaccinated and will get our boosters before the fall assuming they make them available.

Is there a difference in terms of efficacy? My philosophy has always been to do shots right away, but my child was 10/11 so we weren't really near an age gap. Waiting another 11 months for the 12+ vaccine versus no protection seemed silly to me even though the 5-11 efficacy was lower it still provided protection again hospitalization and death.
But if they recently had Covid, then maybe that would get your though the summer and you just have to worry about Sept and then get the shots.
Also, school dependent. Ours school does not require quarantines for close contacts if the students are vaccinated. Some school don't quarantine anyone anymore, and some daycares quarantine everyone all the time. So YMMV. I was trying to avoid quarantines also with my philosophy.

I feel like your poll should include a "yes, but not until ~90 days post recent COVID infection" option.
I don't have an under 5, but that's where I'm at with my 7-year-old. Her booster was approved a week or so after she got COVID. I'm not delaying because I have any hesitancy about it, but because I don't think she will be offered a second booster any time soon (considering most adults under 50 still can't get another booster, even though tons of boosted adults seem to be getting sick now), I want to her booster immunity window to start when her natural immunity window is ending, not use them both up at the same time.
Just got my 6 yo boosted on Wed. She was the only member of our family who DIDN'T just get covid, and the 2-dose data is not great for 5-11's, so I went ahead. I did not want to get into a situation where she was exposed and not considered "fully vaxxed" and need to quarantine.
I said "within the next few weeks" for 3 yo DS. I would have been banging down our pedi's door, except that DS just had covid a month ago, so he has a little immunity and is free from exposure quarantines for another 2 months. It doesn't feel as urgent in this moment.
Assuming we have access, I plan to do Moderna for him.
I want to get DD vaccinated ASAP, but we leave for vacation next Friday. Given that timing I'm guessing we'll have to wait until we get back to get her started. Really hoping our ped gets Moderna.
Right away. My daughter turns 4 this month, so we’re still a long way from the 5-12 grouping. I’m not sure yet which we’d go with; I need to do some more reading. My son is 10 and ready for a booster, and I was just about to schedule that.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Our pediatrician sent out an email today recommending that any kids under 5 who have recently had Covid wait three months to get their first shot.
My kids had Covid in early May, so I will likely wait until early August, unless our pediatrician thinks we should get it earlier due to international travel we are doing at the end of July.
We all had Covid (first time) a few weeks ago. I will hold off on getting R vaccinated until the Fall due to natural immunity, and by then she'll be 5.

If our pedi rec's the same, then we'll be waiting 2 months rather than a few weeks. I am hoping for more concrete guidance soon. I asked at DS's well visit the first week of June, understanding it was a somewhat prospective question. She just kind of shrugged and said no idea, nothing's approved yet anyway. It was a discouraging response at the time.
I was hoping to have at least his first dose done before the 3 month mark, because I was really hoping not to go back to having to quarantine for every exposure. If we have a gap between the end of his 90 days from positive test, and when he is fully vaxxed, we go back to the Before Times Rules for that period. Hopefully if it happens, case rates are lower then, but omg I was so hoping to avoid that.
Oh man at my daughters 4yr old well check when they did all the shots they talked about how she doesn't get more until 11, which she randomly was talking about today. So she's gonna be REAL mad getting a shot 😂
But I'm going to wait a few weeks until my H gets home. In the off chance they have a reaction I don't want to deal with it alone. Plus my infant is teething and already fussy due to that. People still mostly mask around here indoors, my kid masks, and the only indoor activity we do is a Costco trip, so not to jinx it but I feel like we should be ok waiting a few more weeks.

DD is already scheduled for July 1. We are going to Disney in August, so I'm happy she'll be fully vaccinated before we go, as long as all goes well. 🤞

Yep, they went ahead and did my 4 year old's vaccines at her most recent well check. She's gonna be none too happy to discover she's getting 2 more shots this month.

I think I will vaccinate my 3-year old son before he goes to preschool in September. I’m going to ask our pediatrician about my four month-old daughter when we go next week. At any rate, she won’t be 6 months old until mid-August. She got a booster when I was 37.5 weeks pregnant; maybe that counts for something. lol
Edit: I will be angry probably for the rest of my life about how this went down for families of the smallest kids.

I don’t have a child yet but I am 100% for all vaccines even if they "only" provide a small percentage of effectiveness. Sometimes the flu vaccine from year to year isn’t too effective. I think this past year it was only about 15% effective at preventing infections against the most common strain that was circulating, but I’ll still get the flu vaccine for myself and my child every year (and at the 6 month vaccine they have to get it twice for the first time). It really sucks that it’s taken so long for this approval to come through, but thankful for science. I wonder if many other countries will be vaccinating as young as we are here.
DD is 5 in August, but I signed her up for Moderna this morning as soon as I heard the Walgreens website had updated. This only moved up her eligibility by 7 weeks, but that's enough to have her fully vaccinated before starting K at a new school this fall.
We had Covid earlier in June. I am going to at least wait until the initial rush of people wanting to get vaccinated passes since my daughter likely has good immunity for right now. Maybe end of summer?
