How awful! She will be in my prayers. I just saw this post, so hopefully this will bump it for everyone. Any update?
Follow the GFM for updates. Unfortunately it's still pretty bad She has been moved to a long term acute care hospital. She is still on the ventilator, they put in a trach. She can respond a bit to certain things but it appears the stroke did pretty catastrophic damage. I am so incredibly heartbroken.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
She has been in my thoughts a lot over the last few weeks.
I don't know enough about stroke recovery, but it sounds to me like they haven't completely figured out her prognosis. I assume if she does wake up it's going to take a lot of rehab to recover, but it's not ruled out that that won't happen and she could end up ok... Right?
I am just so sad for her and her loved ones. She is a such a smart, vibrant, good person and it's not fair that this should have happened to her.
wildrice anything could happen. She slipped into a coma after she had the stroke so she would need to become more conscious to be able to determine more about the effects of the stroke. I keep hoping her brain will heal enough for her to wake up.

ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø I told her best friend this, but one of my close friends had a stroke and was in a coma back in 2002. At first they told us she would die and then they said she would never walk or talk again.
Itās taken a lot of rehab over the course of many years, but sheās doing very well.
It all depends on the area of the brain affected and how badly it was affected. Generally, the greatest progress in rehab happens in the first 6 months after a stroke and it will be pretty limited after that.

It was a brain stem stroke if that's what you're referring to.
I havenāt logged in here in ā¦ how long? 5+ years. But I saw this thread as I was wondering if any posts had been made here.
We are waiting on eeg results that happened earlier today. Any small gains Jen had made are long gone. I visited her on Sunday and there was just ā¦ nothing. I think sheās gone, and her sister is just waiting on confirmation before confirming next steps. But those next steps will likely be to turn the machines off and let her go.
This whole thing has been surreal. I am heartbroken. Traumatized. And thankful to this weird little community that gave me my best friend for the last 8 years.
