The weekend was good. DD1 hung out at a friend's house all day on Friday, and DD2 had a friend over for a little while. Saturday we had a family day - lunch out, pool time, a badminton game, more pool time. A few fights, but nothing terrible. I'll call it a win!
Sunday we dropped DD1 off at camp 2.5 hours away. My mom came to stay with DD2 since we weren't allowed out of the car. She was excited, I cried, which is fine - as long as she's happy I'm happy.
DH left this morning on a trip for work. He hired another person over the weekend, so I'm really hoping he can slow down a little. DD2 is at a really fun day camp for the first half of the week. I'm trying to get some work in but we have some guys working here and since DH is a control freak who scheduled a trip when he knew the guys were coming to work, I'm translating pool plumbing fixes over text.
The weather is supposed to be pretty good this week, so I'm hoping DD2 and I can get to the beach after her camp. Otherwise I'm happy for the down time.
We did DH’s birthday celebration yesterday. The kids really came through on presents. Thankfully, since I’m terrible at it. I mean I drove them to the store, but they picked out some good stuff.
We have an appointment today and car stuff then we head out.
It was a very quiet weekend. Beau had to work all day Saturday and I didn't want to spend the day doomscrolling on the internet. So I finished my book and bought a paint by number kit that I worked on off and on all weekend. It was so calming and satisfying. It's a complicated picture so I had to really focus on it, which was good for my anxiety/upset brain.
Yesterday we went to a first birthday party for a friend's kid. We just stopped in for a couple hours, it was kind of an all day pool party with a million toddlers running around. It was fun, but not somewhere we needed to stay all day without our own kids there.
This week we're counting down to a long weekend away at my parents' house at the lake for the 4th. I can't wait, while we've seen my folks a bunch recently, we haven't been to their house to relax in months.
Ds headed back to NC in his new car yesterday. We had such a nice visit. His first couple of times home he seemed out of sorts and he hung out with friends mostly. But this was a long visit and we had a lot of time. We went out to eat 3 times. All his favorite Mexican. Saw Top Gun together. Went shopping where I bought him a new pair of running shoes and Vans.Cooked burgers and chili. He was even back to the old ways of randomly yelling like a wounded moose for no reason and stopping by our room to chat before bed. It was sad to see him drive off.
Dh and I scored free tickets to a music festival Saturday for our anniversary.
This week is nuts. DH is sick, no COVID. But second week on the job. He got a steroid shot and antibiotics yesterday. I have dentist and doctors appointments and a lot if meetings.

This week is totally nuts.
Kids are in camp about 25 minutes away, which isn’t the end of the world, but I forgot that DD2 has a physical tomorrow and her doctor is impossible to reschedule with so we must make it work which will mean more driving. my calendar is just very packed, the AC is broken, H decided that we must take the car to a new mechanic to fix and issue that it’s had for months and months, I need to find someone to feed the cat and hamster while we are gone for the weekend, plus you know do my job.
Oh and the kids want to go meet my parents’ new dog.
Oh and H just dropped another business trip on me for next month.
We had a nice weekend. I took the girls to a water park with my friend and her family. It was as overcast instead of the usual blistering July heat and everyone had a nice time. I got none of my yardwork done bc it rained pretty much the rest of the weekend.

We had a good weekend and enjoyed the finally warm weather. Saturday, Beau and I got an early start to our local ORV park expecting it to be busy and to beat the heat. But to our surprise it wasn't busy and we had a good ride. It seems like we never get that early of a start, so we had the rest of the day to be productive with pedicures after our ride, errands and dinner at a new restaurant in our area. Sunday I went to Beau's DIL's baby shower. It was too hot outside to do much when I got back so we ended up binging on Stranger Things and take out pizza.
This week is going to be busy. We're prepping for a 4th of July picnic at Beau's house. We'll probably start camping there on Saturday so we need to get the trailer cleaned and ready this week. I'm a planner and want to plan food and everything right now so we can go to Costco and do a grocery order. But Beau and his son aren't planners and they still need to decide if we're doing everything on the 3rd or 4th since most people won't be able to take Tuesday the 5th off (and the party usually goes late). Tomorrow is our 3rd anniversary together and we'll probably go out to dinner. Top that off with a new system roll out completed at work that still has lots of bugs in addition to all the usual work.
We had a great summer weekend between the giant county fair with the kids and going to the Padres game with our friends. I also got the boys haircuts and read two more chick lit novels I got from the library - thanks all for your recommendations!
Daycare provider who texted me last Monday morning that she had COVID still isn't open yet - I finally got her to commit to opening Wednesday-Friday this week. So DS3 is at his daycare buddy's house this morning with a babysitter.
We leave on our summer trip to Washington/Idaho/Oregon on Saturday. I need to figure out some last minute arrangements like whether I need to rent a pack n play and highchair or if our rentals have them, and make a dinner reservation for a group of 12 for the night my friend got babysitters while we're in Oregon. Trips are not relaxing with our crew, but I'm hopeful that the change of scenery is good for all of us, the kids will have a great time, and we'll get to see some friends. Four nights it's just us in Idaho and then four nights we're with a bunch of other families in Oregon.
Ugh. I totally forgot that I'm supposed to get my COVID booster tonight with the kids. I booked it a couple weeks ago so that it would line up well with when we have to fly. But now I have to be in the office for the next two days for full day meetings. I think I'm going to cancel my shot. I can't risk side effects during quarterly meetings.
This week is "cousin camp" where my sister brings me my nieces for a whole week of cousin fun! Her girls (11, 7) and my girls (14, 10, 6) look forward to this week all year! We have lots of fun stuff planned, but really, they are just happy to swim in the backyard, eat loads of popsicles, stay up all night, and just do cousin shenanigans together.
Weekend was pretty good too - DD1 got 2 individual state cuts at her swim meet, so she is happy as can be. I got to have dinner with both my sisters at a really fun new place right on the lake when my younger sister brought my nieces over. And work has finally actually begun on the deck we have been planning on for the past year!
madringal, librarychica, cousin week sounds awesome! We have such a huge age range on both sides of the family (8 cousins ranging from 22 to 9 on DH's side, and 8 cousins ranging from 22 to will be born in a month on my side) that cousin time is tough now. DH and his brother take all the kids camping for a week every year, but the older cousins are dropping out for work now.

We had a great weekend. Friends invited us swimming at their clubs Friday and Sunday and we had ds’s bday party Saturday. So it was a busy but fun weekend. I didn’t make it to the grocery store or Costco or gas station or car wash or get laundry done but the kids got to socialize and swim and it was fun to hang with their friends’ parents a bit.
Ds1 and dh fly out to a race on Saturday so this week will be a bit hectic but the. It’s just me and the little guy for the long weekend. I’m planning to relax and get all the stuff done that didn’t happen this weekend. Except Costco….I just did that after picking up the boys and managed to spend $700 and not get anything other than food, sunblock, and other grocery type things. But camp lunches are covered for the next 2 weeks!
Also I go to Costco like twice a year and stock up. I see sooooo many people that go and get 1-5 things. So it makes me feel so weird being the load up the cart family. I would love to be that person with 5 things but I don’t have time to shop that often.

sandandsea, I'm the fill up the cart at Costco type and often wonder about the 1-5 item people. How often do they shop at Costco and how do they avoid the impulse purchases like I make? My local Costco is so busy that it made national news a few years ago, so why would they want to fight the crowds for only a couple items? Beau and I are headed there tonight for our 4th of July party shopping and we'll definitely fill up the cart.

We were gone all last week at the beach (OBX), came home on Saturday and I'm still trying to get back into the groove! We had an overall great time, and I feel like I was truly able to enjoy being with my kids because they didn't get on my nerves as much as previous years (does that sound terrible?? oh well).

My mom is a handful of items at Costco person. Partly because hers isn’t bad during the week (mine is crazy at almost any time) but mostly because she was a load up the cart person when we were kids and now only buys a few items there (meat, canned tomatoes, paper goods.) also she is retired and her and dad go to like 4 grocery stores. Me if I can’t get it in one store I just do not need it that much!
sandandsea, Costco is on my way home from work. I sometimes stop and pick up a chicken for dinner, my RX, or just a couple items because I want to take advantage of them while they are on sale. Most of the time I go once a month a fill up a cart. If I don't get a cart than I can only grab what I can carry which helps with impulse shopping.
Dh is magically better by the time I got home last night. No coughing, no sniffling, 100% fine. So was it a ploy all weekend? I've put my foot down on helping him with the camper and his trip. I'm reminding/telling him stuff but I refuse to actually do it other than the grocery shopping.
My Monday was spent sitting. Between an hour drive to a 4-hour seminar and then an hour drive home. Then DD was nervous about practice last night since Cranky T was back from her surgery I sat through her 3 hour practice. My lower back/butt is killing me.
