So DH and our 3 kids arrive Friday for a week long stay. We purchased Genie+. DH, DD, and DS2 will go on any and all rides. DS1 and I have certain rides we are unable to ride on due to motion sickness. DH chose just now to share with me his concern that using Genie+ will split us up too much. Are we understanding this wrong or will it all work out? He thinks if the 3 of them us Genie+ and DS1 and I do our own Genie + our times will be all off and will be hard to meet back up for things we can do together. Has that been your experience? Tips to make this better?
It will work probably work out fine, but yes that can impact your timing to book rides.
You can book rides very 2 hours or after you scan into a ride, whichever is first.
So if you’re basically all riding together except for a few rides that you and your DS skip out on, you’ll be fine.
What I would do is when a time comes up that the others want to ride, book it for those 3 and you and your other child just wait while they ride. Or do something nearby that has a short standby wait.
When you ride using the lightning lane the wait is generally around 10 minutes max. So it’s not like you’ll spend a ton of time waiting. We found that to be the easiest way to handle a ride that some wanted to do but others didn’t.
Our family split up for the same reasons you will. It worked out perfectly fine for us and actually was a great way to do it. The only caveat is that both you and your H will have to know the ins and outs of the app. That was new for my H, who basically just is used to following me around amusement parks. He learned how to scan, book, plan, etc and once we both had it figured out, it allowed us to split up and enjoy ourselves.
