some article i read yesterday - some woman commented about how the Jan 6 committee is only seeing democratic evidence. They aren’t seeing the REAL evidence - she’s SEEN THE VIDEOS that shows it was FBI agents dressed as Trump supporters scaling the Capital!!!

These people believe this insane shit. And they claim all mainstream media lies, so they believe none of it (but of course believe FoxNews).

1. You know Jan 6 was terrible enough to resign over. Some did, some didn’t.
2. You are aware he was thrilled with the violence, threats to hang his own VP Pence, so many injured police and Americans died.
3. You even have the balls to testify in front of millions of people. Trump will see you and you will be his enemy, no matter your pledged loyalty.

I mean, I'm not even asking or expecting these people to vote for Democrats. If the Ds turned into a cult like this, I sure as hell won't be running to the GOP. I'd have a lot more respect for these people if they said they refuse to vote for Trumpy Rs in the future, even if they have to vote third party for some races or write in candidates.

But, we need to understand that even though the GOP is "winning" these days re: SCOTUS decisions, gerrymandering in Congress, state legislatures, etc., they are a desperate party. So I also can't be too shocked that people who feel like their party has no future at some point are trying to cling onto every last piece of power they can grab, legitimately or not. And they vote accordingly even when the top guy shows no loyalty to them.

I think the discussion about Trump followers being in a cult is interesting and there’s a lot of truth to it. Some people are actively, knowingly, willingly participating in this nonsense, likely because of deep beliefs and caring about no one other than themselves. Trump’s egotistical persona appeals to them because it’s everything they’ve ever wanted to be. They don’t want anyone telling them what to do and they see Trump as the person who stands against any kind of authority.

But then there are others who I believe are in this just like a religious cult. They blindly follow their leader and fully believe that he has their best interest at heart. They do not question anything that he says because he is the ultimate authority. They 100% believe what he has told them about the media, and therefore aren’t open to even hearing things about the Jan 6 hearings because they believe it’s all a media circus and people are lying under oath because they’ve been bribed to do so. Nothing from a media source will change their opinion because Trump has told them that nothing they see in the media is true (unless it glorifies him, of course). It follows the patterns of scary religious cults. Then the questions and answers as to why and how get harder, and the way to reach people like that is totally different.

I know both kinds of people. One kind makes me livid and the other makes me really sad. Some people are just highlighting the asshole that I’ve always known them to be and aren’t worth even trying to have any kind of discussion with. Others are now a shadow of what they once were, void of independent thinking and acting in ways that are not in line with the values that they believe they uphold. I feel similar about some of those people as I do/did about a family member who abandoned her family and joined a religious cult.

Now, I barely remember that movie so I have no clue what he's referring to, but this is just crazy to me.
