Everything about Paul Whelan is sus to me. His family didn't even know he got a bad conduct discharge, and 4 citizenships seems excessive to me. The one thing I do know, he is not the honorable Marine everyone is making him out to be.
I have 3 passports (US, Irish, British) for zero nefarious reasons (or even practical ones beyond wanting an escape plan in case the country went to shit).
Fair point, let me clarify, 4 citizenships is excessive to me and suspicious when one is being accused of spying. JMHO

I dunno. Born in Canada means he likely had birthright citizenship. To British parents would be how he has British citizenship. If he was eligible for Irish citizenship via grandparent status or such, I can see applying for that now that Brexit means his British citizenship does nothing for him in the EU.
The only oddball one in the mix is the US one. I don't know his backstory at all, but there might be something in there for a tie to the US.
Yes, multiple passports can be nefarious. But, their existence doesn't automatically mean bad things.

I’m amazed by BG’s positivity and warmth after all she’s been through. Those who have had contact with her on the flight and since her return have comment about how lovely she is, and how kind she was to everyone. It sounds like she’s genuinely a very big-hearted person, evidenced by all who know her. She was even kind and friendly to those in the penal colony with her! What a classy lady.
I am fairly certain that if I had been in her shoes, I would probably would not have had the positive outlook and amazing attitude that she did.
I'm glad this information is coming out. BG is a very warm and caring person and always has been. In the WNBA she is the "gently giant". The Phoneix suns (who she plays for) are known to be a "dirty" team. They play hard, rough ball. That, along with her stature of being almost 7 feet tall, covered in tats and having the dreads gives people that do not know her or judge a book by the cover, a warped imagine of her.
Is she perfect - oh hell no. People like to grab onto the fact that she has a domestic assult charge on her record. Is it ever ok to lay a hand on another person - no. This was a domestic issue between two spouses that got out of hand. I'm not excusing it, just saying that I am aware she is not a perfect person. We all have skeletons in our past that would come out if we were in the media.
But all in all, she is a lovely person both inside and out and fights for equality for all. I'm just happy that people who don't necessarily follow the WNBA are now getting to see her true self.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but Brittney Griner is holding her first live press conference on ESPN right now. It's amazing to see her bright smile again!
There were 500 media individuals there. That is HUGE. Holly Rowe was given the honor to be the first reporter to ask a question. She cried while asking her question and Brittney also got very emotional.
Brittney is 100% playing this season and the Mercury's first preseason game is May 9th. Not sure if she will play preseason but their regular season starts May 19th and will be broadcast on national TV. I encourage you all to watch, not just that game but the season and share the love of women's basketball with your young children.
I apologize for continually bringing this story up but I am a huge WNBA fan and have followed this story from day 1 and have shed tears over it. I am sooooooo incredibly happy to see her finally home, with her family and friends and getting ready to do what she loves.

Thank you for posting it! I live local and am really happy to have the chance to watch Brittney play with her team again.
