YLE included a link to a preprint in her newsletter that says a booster within 2 months of an infection doesn’t add much protection and suggests waiting 3-4 months post infection at least. So since I had it in mid-July I think I’ll do flu shot in Sept and booster in Oct maybe?

Looking at the timing of everything, I'm going to end up getting a covid booster and my flu shot at the same time. Blah.
I’m due for covid, flu and Tdap vaccines! I know Tdap always makes my arm sore. I think I’m gonna do covid first (I’ve never had a bad reaction), then flu and Tdap together.
I'm so torn. I had Covid Jul 9-16. I'm traveling to NYC and then a conference in Cleveland September 15-23. So that's right at my 60 day post-infection mark. I really wanted the booster before, but if it's not going to be that helpful maybe it's better to wait and have better protection for our mid-October travel and the winter. This is hard and annoying and there are a bunch of other stressful things happening at the moment that are making me fixate on this.
Random stupid question when we're counting infection. When does the post infection period start? After you test negative post-infection? or after you test positive for the first time?

Well, mine was just a week between testing positive and testing negative and since we're talking in months I've been kind of just using the middle as an estimate.
I think I'm leaning toward waiting until the end of September for my booster because (and this is really just for me to write and reason out, everyone else can skip it LOL):
A. My travel/events will be right at my 60 day post-infection time
B. I'm really more concerned about being infected BEFORE the first trip (Sep 15-18) and missing it, I honestly don't care if I get Covid and have to miss my conference (Sep 19-23) or if I come home from the conference with it. It wasn't fun, but I doubt I'd get severely ill.
C. A booster on Sep 7 will provide really no protection for concern B and would only provide full protection closer to 2 weeks post-shot so potentially not great coverage anyway.

Woohooo! Health Canada just approved the new Omicron focused Moderna vaccine. Don’t know when that means we will have shots in arms but I will be trying to get that one asap.

I had covid in July for the first time and was worried that my August cycle might be fucked up since the vax and booster really messed up period for months.
Well my August cycle came and went right on time. It was actually 1 day less than what's been typical but no other out of normal issues.
I tested positive this morning. To my knowledge, this is my first time having it. Symptoms started Wednesday evening, but I tested negative then and again on Thursday morning. So far I'm not feeling terrible and am just having typical cold symptoms.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I tested positive this morning. My second time having it, the first was before vax were available and this time has been waaaaay easier. Yesterday sucked, but today I feel 1000% better.

So if my entire household had COVID the first week of August, we all should wait until December? 3 out of 4 of us have had 3 shots(initial 2 plus booster). Last family member only had 2 shots and was getting their 3rd one the week we all tested positive.
We were going to get boosters before we travel to Spain over thanksgiving (requirement is within 9 months and/or maybe some rules on negative tests). Covid is currently curculating in my house, we may have to get the shots closer to an infection than preferred. Darnit!

I booked the updated booster and the flu shot on the same day then I thought maybe it was a bad idea? I think I might drop the flu shot and do that the following week.

Fauci said he is getting his booster at 3 months post his infection and he’s in a higher risk category being older. I would think getting it in Nov/Dec before the holidays might be a good time. Maybe by then we’ll have more info on the effectiveness in humans, too.
If you have a choice between Pfizer & Moderna - which booster are you getting and why?
If I have an option, I am leaning towards Moderna because my other 3 were Pfizer and I’ve read there may be some benefit to mix-and-matching. But Pfizer is more predominantly available around here so I may end up with that again.

I just passed the 90 day mark of my infection but covid really kicked my ass so I’m hoping it left a lot of antibodies lol. I feel like it’s too soon for me to get the new booster now with winter still a few months away, so I’ll probably get it sometime in October.
Also, last year I got the booster and the flu shot within a couple of days of each other and felt no side effects from either. But I also don’t feel side effects with the flu shot in general and never felt side effects from any covid shot, so I think if I felt bad side effects from the flu shot and/or covid shot I’d space out a bit more. OR, I might get them at the same time so I only feel like shit once instead of twice…

A previous poster mentioned the benefits of mix and match. If you had Pfizer until now I’d definitely get Moderna. That said, I am not convinced that the limited evidence in mix and match outweighs what so far has been superior durability of antibodies with Moderna, likely driven by the higher doses in their vaccines across the board.
I had 4x Moderna and chose a Moderna bivalent as well for this reason.

CVS finally updated their site to more reliably book bivalent appts only, and I got an appointment for this afternoon. So happy to get this thing in me almost 4 months to the day from my last booster and one week and 1 day before my work air travel. It ended up being such a sweet spot in terms of timing.

There’s no clinical reason it’s a bad idea. But if you would feel more comfortable spreading them out then go for it.

My anecdotal experience from last year - I got the first booster and flu shot the same day. Nothing out of the ordinary compared to what I had previously experienced. My original series made me a little tired and I had a sore arm. Same thing with the booster/flu combo.
The only other thing that happened was that I had a little mosquito-bite-like itchiness at the site where the booster went in.
I probably would not reschedule if you haven’t had bad side effects.
ETA: I booked my flu and omicron booster together this year, that’s how totally ok my original experience was, lol
