Orlando in late December Qs

My parents are considering renting a home near Orlando the week of Christmas and we’re considering joining them. Is it warm enough to swim if the pool is heated/in a lanai? We’re not interested in Disney that week but does anyone have other ideas for what to do that week?

It might be and it might not be. December can be pretty hit or miss, but the odds are slightly in your favor.
That said, I wouldn't choose Orlando for a FL vacation if I weren't doing the parks. Either coast might offer more to do.

Kennedy Space Center isn't super far though, and that is definitely a possibility. The zoo in Tampa would be about 90-120 min away.

If you are in to architechture at all, there are a bunch of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Lakeland at www.flsouthern.edu/frank-lloyd-wright/home.aspx Pretty interesting tour. Not far from Orlando.

You may be able to see manatees at Blue Spring State Park. Also a short drive from Orlando. www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/blue-spring-state-park

We just got back from Disney and Cocoa Beach. On our way out of Orlando, we went to Wonderworks for a few hours, and it was really neat. There's a bunch of stuff to do over there on I-Drive. The Kennedy Space Center was awesome! Well worth the hour trip from Orlando. We were there open to close and still didn't see everything.
