Anyone mind linking their favorite mashed potato recipe and possibly favorite turkey recipe as well? I'm hosting a Friendsgiving next weekend. We always always travel for Thanksgiving (except 2020 when I made turkey cutlets) so I've never done a full bird.

I honestly don't know for Thanksgiving this year. I usually do various apps and pies but we have to travel this year because DH's brother who lives 3 hrs away decided he wanted to host. So all 10 of us who live less than 10 minutes of each other will all be making the trek to the 4 of them. Cause that makes sense.
Yes, I'm bitter. I'm secretly praying for a minor illness so we can stay home.
But I'll probably end up doing pies.
Christmas we're doing enchiladas and some sort of cheesecake, probably.
Are you my BIL’s wife?! 🤣 I’m pretty sure she’s had these exact thoughts since we (who live away from the parents, other SIL, and them) offered to host Thanksgiving this year. It’s because we go up there all the time, it feels like “our turn,” and BIL’s family has been to our town exactly once (almost ten years ago) and frankly that is starting to feel kind of shitty. The other two host frequently. BIL and wife have yet to confirm if they’re coming, and I’m sure will vacillate like they do for everything, finally say a begrudging and heavily qualified yes, and then their youngest kid will pop a convenient fever Wednesday morning. I would be shocked if they deviate much at all from that script. (If you are BIL’s wife and you do come, yes, stick with a pie! No need to bring your green bean casserole because the cream of mushroom soup you dump on top makes my stomach turn.) Air kisses, your SIL 🤣🤣
Seriously though I hope you have a good holiday, however it goes!
My initial plan was to order from Wegmans catering and be done with it but I’m pretty sure my husband will just take over and handle the whole cooking thing and knock it out of the park. I’ll maybe be in charge of snacks and drinks, I can handle that.

We use Pioneer Woman for turkey! Her general recipes aren’t amazing but her Thanksgiving turkey is legit.
So I was all about doing our traditional way too much food, traditional turkey and sides, etc. and then, for shits and giggles I looked at the Whole Foods meals, and I am so tempted by the surf and turf. I strive to be pescatarian leaning vegetarian, but a couple times a year I’ll have a steak. And omg that sounds so good. But, I’ve always been disappointed in grocery store Thanksgiving dishes.
We usually do Thanksgiving at our house but MIL called and invited us (and my side of the family as well) to their house instead. It means total crap food (she does not know what seasoning is, I swear) but I am so tired and the thought of cleaning, shopping and cooking was just too much. So, we will be at their house eating Clark Griswold style turkey and gravy out of a jar, but I didn't have to do it so I really don't care.
