We'd largely ignored our home office (and the odd-shaped dormer closet) since we moved in, but working from home made a renovation necessary. I started work on the closet in June intending to wallpaper it, but after doing all the plaster repair I decided to hand paint it instead. I had a lot of fun hiding my favorite plants, animals, and other weird stuff in there.
After it was done, I debated keeping it as a reading nook or even moving the desk in there, but really we need the space for storage (old house, storage is at a premium). It is primarily a space for our window AC units, so during the summer when those are in the windows it's mostly empty.

Beautiful work! I’m so inspired. I was just thinking this morning that I needed to get some awesome wallpaper for our laundry room and powder room. I love it.
Amazing! About how many hours did it take you to do?
Oh wow I don't know...removing the old wallpaper, taking down damaged plaster, and then re-plastering and sanding took two whole weekends. Painting the base color, ceiling, and trim was only a few hours total. And then the flowers I worked on here and there over four months. They needed at least two coats (the lighter colors needed three or four), the leaves needed three coats. Then I did the little Easter eggs here and there over two weekends. Then the outlining (I used navy Sharpies) took two weeks of evenings and weekends.
In my mind it was still easier than trying to match a pattern on a fancy wallpaper in a room where nothing is square. I'll keep telling myself that!
