The weekend was nice! We really didn't have anything planned, so it was nice to just hang around and get stuff done.
Saturday DD2 took a private school admissions test. I got her scores this morning, and she did much better than I anticipated, which was a nice surprise! While she was testing, my neighbor and I went on a 5 mile walk. It was really cold - only around 30 degrees - but we dressed for it and it was a nice way to start the day. I did a few things around the house, and went to Target to get some Christmas shopping done. The kids and I played board games while DH helped the electrician wire up our new basement room, then DD2 and I watched Enchanted (gearing up to watch Disenchanted).
Sunday I just had a long list of things to do - laundry, work on parent statements for school applications, start organizing for Christmas because I shop throughout the year and I forget what I buy. I made a big pot of chili while we watched football, and my kids actually got along and hung out together.
We are leaving super early Wednesday morning to drive to MIL's house about 5 hours away. BIL was planning to cook at MIL's house because they're redoing their kitchen. He told us not to bring anything, he had everything, all under control... and texted last night that he's down with COVID. Super high fevers, aches, chills, head pounding and sore throat. So I ordered a turkey last night and I'm hoping I can get an instacart order delivered to MIL's house because now I'm cooking, I think? Day 5 would be Thursday for him, so even if he's feeling better he would need to mask, which he won't do. I'm worried about MIL and DH's aunt that is supposed to come over.
We had a great weekend! Family pictures on Saturday worked out, even though it was freezing out. I'm hoping we got a few good shots that I can use for Christmas cards and to replace the old ones hanging up in the house. Beau's son looks like such a baby in them! He was only six and now he's almost nine!
Saturday evening we went to the Festival of Trees and the kids had so much fun. It was the opening day of it and it was so quiet! Usually it's wall to wall people and takes a couple hours to walk through. We were done in like 45 minutes this year. I'm not complaining though, it was so nice to have the place to ourselves. And the girls sat on Santa's lap and let me get a picture of them. It was adorable and so sweet since we're on the tale end of their believing.
On Sunday we put up our decorations and my house feels so cozy now! Between all the decorations up and all the cleaning we did, it's going to be so nice to come home from vacation to everything already done. We leave Wednesday night, so this week is just laundry and packing.

We had a really cozy and relaxing weekend. It was cool and rainy, I baked a bunch of scones with DD2, we played board games, watched movies. It was nice.
I’m working all week but Thursday. I’m hoping to get a bunch done while everyone is out. I have a shocking number of meetings today, though, lol. My girls are at my parents’ until tomorrow night so H and I have dinner reservations this evening — woo!
Thursday we’re bringing our crew and half the food to H’s grandma’s for thanksgiving. I am sure it will be nice, but we will be missing my SIL and her kids. They are on vacation instead and seeing them is usually the thanksgiving highlight. Oh well, though, I am not going to get in the way of another woman’s well-deserved vacation! I think I’ll bring some entertainment for the girls and I since they’ll be the only kids, we can play board games and whatnot while H’s family does their thing. Maybe some of them will join us.
I shopped untill I almost dropped this weekend. Left noon Friday and started shopping at around 2. Went a few hours and then back to the hotel for drinks and pizza. There were 16 of us, I am surprised we didn't get kicked out, this group has no chill.
Up early Saturday and were at the outlets by 9. Shopped there untill 2 and hit a TJ Maxx and Homegoods. I think I went to 3 different Bath and Body Works, and have somewhere around 12 Christmas hand soaps, but some are for staff. Then out to Drakes fir drinks and dinner.
Back up Sunday and they decided to go back for some deals they missed. I got home around 2, but we had to turn around and go to my in laws because my SIL and BIL are in for Thanksgiving.

Beau and I had a good weekend camping and riding. We were surprised that we didn't hit traffic either way, which is unheard of driving through Seattle and Tacoma. We had to bundle up more than usual since it was 28 degrees when we started and only had a high of 38 both days. It was even too cold to sit by the fire. This was our second time at this offroad park, so we hit a lot of new trails and had a good time riding. Usually it's rare to see other women riders on dirt bikes, but almost every group that we met on the trails had a woman in the group which always makes me happy.
I'm hoping for a slow week at work. Thursday is an off day and I'm taking a vacation day on Friday. Thursday we'll go to Beau's mom's house for dinner. She requested a cheesecake so I need to figure out which kind I want to make. We'll have Thanksgiving on Sunday with my parents since DS will be with his dad on Thursday.
DH had a really rough night on Friday so I took him to urgent care on Saturday morning. He was negative for Covid, Flu, and Strep but he did have a raging double ear infection and throat infection. The doctor loaded him up with antibiotics, steroids, and cough medicine. We went home and took turns napping while the kids entertained themselves. DH is now feeling a whole lot better. On Sunday I took DD to urgent care because she started complaining about her ear. She also has an ear infection. After that, we picked up dinner and went home. After dinner and baths/showers, I crashed hard. I think I went to bed at 7 last night. I'm hoping I was just exhausted from taking care of everything last week and not that I am getting sick. So that means I didn't get bills paid or cleaned the house. We go to my parents' on Thanksgiving day and we are in charge of 1 side dish. We'll host the in-laws (around 10 people) on Saturday. On Sunday we will dig out the Christmas stuff.
Weekend was good. Saturday, we picked up leaves and got the outside Christmas lights up. It was cold but the sun was out. Sunday DD went out to ride and got to pick up frozen poop and break the water buckets. It was 30 when we got there and was only 36 at 1 when we left. Didn't feel too bad in the sunshine but in the shade it was cold.
Short work and school week...just today and tomorrow. DD has her salmon watch/salmon egg release field trip today. The rain seems to be holding off but that means it is chilly. She took my bogs to wear and has just as many layers on today as she did yesterday to ride. She also took an old backpack so her school backpack didn't get dirty.
DD and I are in charge of desserts. I roasted and purred a pumpkin over the weekend and have so much pumpkin that I'm giving puree away. I have 8 bags filled with 2 cups each and a large mixing bowl full. DD needs to make her pie dough tonight so that is one less thing we need to deal with on Wednesday baking day.

We had our first out of town hockey tournament and it was exhausting, but super fun. We played against some very tough teams so didn't win any games, but the kids improved a lot between the games and it was really fun to watch.

Nice weekend - we had no major plans although we did go to DH's parents to have dinner for his birthday and then out to eat with my parents for my husband's birthday. It was pretty low key. I did try to organize around all the things we pulled out of our cabinets. I got some stuff done on that front but the house is still a disaster. I don't see that changing until after Thanksgiving.
Friday we had parent teacher conferences and I heard great reports about both kids. They are both making good grades and both are getting credit for being able to work with anyone. In DS' class in particular I'm a little concerned because it sounds like the rest of his class are being awful to each other and to their teachers. He's getting a lot of credit for being a kid who ignores everyone and just gets his work done. But that not...a great atmosphere to be in. They have a plan to intervene to basically try to get the kids to be kinder to one another and to get back to being not so "cool" and more excited about learning. Since its not my kid doing it I don't know that there's any action steps for us to take but it was a bit eyebrow raising.
I dismissed my kids early today to squeeze in therapy for both due to the holiday. I’d planned on taking them both shopping at the shops next door.
But someone (seemingly intentionally) drove through a store there today, killing one person and sending around 20 people to the hospital with serious injuries. It’s awful. We go there all the time. DD1 shops there with her friends, and now I’m afraid to let her go.
My weekend was nice. We installed a new front door and redid the trim around the door. I had to go to the hardware store for some supplies. It's a small town store with very friendly clerks who ask what they can help you find as soon as you walk in....it was hard to explain, "I'm looking for caulk," while keeping a straight face!
sdlaura - omg… we don’t live there, but it’s a beautiful town and it’s so close by that it’s the easiest place for us to shop. We were actually at the restaurant next door last weekend after the kids’ piano recital. They used the restaurant as a staging area afterwards I guess.
It’s terrible. People are really hurt. I hope your friends are ok and none of their friends were in the shop.
mae0111, I saw that on the news! It is so scary! I'm glad you weren't there at the time it happened. I can't fathom how fast the car was going or how terrifying it must have been for people there.
I finished everything that was due before the holiday for work. I'm off tomorrow and have zero motivation to work for the rest of today. Thankfully I'm at home, so I'll probably throw on a Hallmark movie and do some laundry while checking in on the computer every now and then. The level of absolute guilt that I feel doing that is ridiculous. I work hard. I can slack off a little bit leading into a vacation/holiday weekend.
