I would do a Mo Willems book (Elephant and Piggie or Don't Let the Pigeon), Grumpy Monkey, or any of the Bad Seed/Good Egg/Smart Cookie books if you can find them in that price range!
Anything by Mo Willems Pout Pout Fish series Any kind of look and find Little Legends series Click Clack Moo series Little Blue Truck series Pete the Cat
I didn’t mean to offend. Sorry. Is there a better way to have worded that?
Not the person you responded to…I’m sure you were just repeating the instructions as they were given to you. But, much like toys, I believe all books are for all genders. Certainly any book appropriate for a kindergarten-age girl is also appropriate for a kindergarten-age boy, and vice versa. But my kid went to K in a very red district where many people truly would have believed that princess stories are for girls and books about trucks or trains are for boys. It’s just…not really true though.
Mo Willems is the best. He has a new pigeon book out, and his Leonardo the Terrible Monster and the squirrel books are favorites too. And we own every single Elephant and Piggie book.

Colors, clothes and lengths of hair too. My autistic DS6 and I talk often about how books, toys, clothes, colors & lengths of hair are all for everyone.
We like the How to Catch series. How to Catch an Elf, How to Catch a Mermaid, etc.
I have a brand new copy of that on my bookshelf. I don’t know where it came from. I texted DD to see if she wanted to use that and she hasn’t answered.
I’m not sure if you are referring to How to Catch an Elf but I would ask you to consider sending in something that isn’t Christmas related.
Are there people out there who think books have genitals?
As a teacher, I have had a parent (who was also a teacher at my school) scream at me for not warning her that she bought “girl” books from the scholastic book order.
The big hits in my classroom this year are anything Pokémon, Biscuit, Elephant and Piggie. What if you had animal (feet, tongue, etc) are a hit but not things a kinder could read independently
My own kid is obsessed with the There Was an Old Lady that Swallowed… series
