DD1 went to a birthday party yesterday. It was a movie party at their house, so we were there for 3 hours watching a movie in a big living room. Right after cake, a kid started throwing up. 😖 Kids had a lot of popcorn, candy and cake, but the kid threw up several times in a row. I hightailed it out of there asap. I don’t think DD1 was sitting near him or shared food or anything… how likely is it we’re going to get it? Ugh we’ve had 2 bouts of vomiting in our house the last 4 weeks I will lose my shit if we get it again. ðŸ˜
Ugh, I hate that so much. I'm sorry. There's just no way to know. I think your odds are decent of NOT getting it. Fingers crossed for you.
We had to postpone DD's bday party that was supposed to be today. Last week on Thursday, 7 kids in her class were suddenly out. On Friday, 8 were out. DD came home from school FINE but 2 hours later didn't feel good and had a HORRIBLE stomach bug. She was really sick all day yesterday, not vomiting any more, but sleeping a ton, hardly eating and had a fever. I'm now living in fear that more of us will catch it.
This is on the heels of her sister having some kind of awful virus with fever since TUESDAY. Today is the first day that so far she is fever-free.
I am so behind on everything! I am most likely to get it, too, since I was closest to the whole situation.
Stomach bugs are the worst! Super Bowl of 2019 will live in infamy among H & my friend group. Host's son had a stomach bug but was all better. Out of 13 attendees 9 of us got the stomach bug.We dropped like flies over the course of 1-3 days after.
We got it after a party because the kid was better but still shedding the virus. He touched the drinks/ glasses and we got it from there. It’s transferred more by touch or in our case he touched it and then we drank from it so you might be in the clear if there was no overlap of touched items and you left before anything could go through the air from the vomit.
Ugh fingers crossed you avoid it! Maybe he just overate.
My ds2 had a bug Friday - threw up in the morning and then spent a good portion of the day napping off and on. Had a fever, didn’t eat. Saturday he was totally fine. No one else has gotten it, and I’m hopeful it stays that way.
Is it possible the kid just overate? My kids have definitely completely emptied their stomach bc they seriously ate too many treats.
I am crossing my fingers for a non viral reason for you!
This is what I’m hoping! There was so much candy/sweets and no one was really limiting the kids who definitely came back for 3rds and 4th servings. I talked to party mom today and she said the sick kid seems fine now, so fingers crossed!
nicolewi, Ugh stomach bugs are by far the worst… sorry you had to cancel your party. Hope everyone is better soon and you can reschedule.
My daughter had a sleepover party a couple weeks ago and one girl went home at midnight and threw up all over her house (hurray! not mine!) and no one else got sick. I think she just didn't self regulate on all the junk food to be honest but she felt awful the next day too. I'd give it a 50/50 shot as well :-)
