This is my most insane week at work. Today I'm mentoring and overseeing the middle management team's annual planning meeting. Then the rest of the week I'll be in senior leadership annual planning meetings. And it's a crucial week for my work trip stuff, so I have a bunch of work for that to do in the evenings since I won't be getting much work done during the work days.
The weekend was good. I volunteered as the photographer for pictures with Santa at the school holiday event on Saturday. It was the best job! Listening to all the little kindergarteners and young kids talk to him was just melting my heart completely. This is our last year at the elementary school and it was a perfect way to wrap up our experience with this big event.
I finished up all my finals and work for my grad school class and it's already been graded. I got another A! Two classes in and I've got a 4.0 GPA so far. Fingers crossed I keep it up through some tougher courses. I'm relieved I get a month off now before my next class starts so I'm not overly stressed during the holidays.

twinmomma, I can’t imagine doing grad school now with kids. Good for you!
We had a great but busy weekend. H and I both worked the PTA holiday event Friday evening, DD1 had two chorus concerts. My quiet girl surprised us with a solo and a speaking part, which is shocking since she very much hates being the center of attention. The group did wonderfully and we are very proud.
This week is shaping up to be busy at work but generally in a good way. Then we have DD2’s guitar recital Tuesday and it’s all downhill from there. 8 workdays until a long holiday weekend!
Thanks librarychica! It's been an adjustment, but I've gotten into a good groove. On the weekends when we don't have the kids, I try to get all my big projects out of the way early. Then when the kids are around I don't have to lock myself away to get homework done. It's also been really good for the kids to see me doing reading or little tasks and remind them that I have homework too. So far so good!
We had kind of a crazy week last week and a crazy weekend. I spent a lot of time at school last week to prep for, work at, and clean up after the bazaar. It was a success and the kids had a wonderful time. DD2 was sick again last week, so between her being home sick and so many of the students coming to school sick so that they wouldn't miss the bazaar, I'm definitely coming down with something. I can't really taste anything, smell is faint but still there. Negative COVID test and I've been eating a ton of zinc lozenges so I'm thinking it's from the zinc??
We had a really difficult weekend with DD1. She was grounded for part of it, but we let her have screens back on Saturday evening (took them Thursday). Then we took them back at bedtime, around 945 because I like her to wind down a bit. I noticed she was still up at 1030, so I went in to ask her a question, and I caught her with her Switch. Cue DD1 totally freaking out, screaming until after 11pm... it was bad.
Yesterday I helped each kid do a Kiwi Christmas project in between 7,395 loads of laundry. DH took the to lunch while I did the Christmas cards and wrapped all of the presents for the foster kids that we're sponsoring. I have to drop them off this week.
This week will be busy. Therapy, piano, tutoring today. The kids' Christmas concert is tomorrow evening. Wednesday we have tickets to go to an outdoor walk through light display. Thursday DD1 is participating in the Spanish Nativity at school (which should be awesome to watch since I don't speak Spanish), then the kids stay after school for an art class. Then we rush to basketball for DD2. Friday DD1 has her first basketball game for school.
I plan to just eat my weight in zinc and elderberry to keep whatever this is that I have at bay, and get myself through the week. Fingers crossed!

Weekend was good. We took DS and Beau's grandson to see Santa, lunch, shopping, and the trampoline place on Saturday. Sunday we picked up my new glasses and took grandson home. I finished decorating for Christmas, cooked a nice dinner and got some cleaning done that I had let go while sick the last two weeks.
We're headed back to the gym this week after 2 weeks off. That will be brutal I'm sure. I have my in-office day on Wednesday and the three of us in the office will be meeting one of my clients for lunch. I've never met any of my clients so I'm a little excited and nervous at the same time. He's coming from Canada so I really hope he doesn't have problems at the border! Thursday I'll be taking part of the day off to get my hair cut and colored. I always say I'm going to do it every three months, but it turns into 6+ each time. I'm tired of the gray showing and it's so damaged. There is an art night at the school that I'm sure DS will want to attend.
I updated my Saturday already. Sunday, DH did 7 million loads of laundry. We did a little bit of shopping, went to the library, DH and DS got their flu shots (we had already gotten ours), I decorated our planters with greenery from the yard. Just that kind of thing.
We have a busy week with band, soccer, recital, and basketball.
Nothing like the sound of your kid coughing and gagging to get you moving first thing in the morning... DS2 has some sort of stomach bug today. Poor kid has vomited 4 times today and can't hold down water. But otherwise he seems like himself. His holiday concert is tomorrow during the school day and it's not looking good for him.
Other than that, our weekend was good. I did some online shopping and Xmas prep on Saturday before we all went to a holiday laser show. On Sunday, we went to my mom's house to help her with some Xmas prep. Then my mom, DD, and I went Xmas shopping while DH and the boys hung out at her house. I visited my dad at the rehab facility and he is looking really good. He has been doing great at PT and will be home on Saturday! He is still not 100%, but he'll get more PT at home to continue to build his endurance.
We have taekwondo x2 this week and the boys have their holiday concerts at school on Tues and Thurs. Work will be slow unless our audit is in-person later this week. I will officially be done with my class once I put in the grades later today.
DH and I have to discuss the list of stuff we got for the kids and possibly add to it, but the rest of the Xmas shopping is done!
DD had her winter performance on Saturday. It was a legit mess. I just don't understand how an event with 300 kids can be so disorganized. The more kids, the more oganization you need. We found out on WEDNESDAY that we had to buy tickets on Ticketmaster for $20 a pop. And that my "free chaperone" ticket doesn't actually allow me to watch the show. They ordered costumes without doing measurements, sent out makeup instructions the night before - which happened to be entirely different from what they'd told us the week before, and didn't notify skaters that if they needed ANY FORM OF ASSISTANCE with hair or makeup, that they need to make arrangements for someone to help them and show up well before the dress rehersal start time of 12pm. One girl still had no costume until about ten minutes before the show started, and I was so proud of her for keeping her composure because DD (and me!) would have been a mess in her shoes (skates?).
Oh, and I found out apparently there's a performance this Saturday too. But no ideas about what time, what routine they're doing, if I need to buy tickets, etc.
DD and I got Covid boosters on Friday. DD hit her wall/started feeling it about 6. I told her coaches when I dropped her off. Guess she was doing her floor routine messed up her pattern and just stopped and looked confused. Coach turned off the music told her it was okay and to just sit down and rest. I felt okay until Saturday when I woke up with swollen lymph nodes in my right armpit. I had the same reaction last time and it lasted for 2 weeks. Wearing a bra hurts like crazy but my giant boobs need a bra.
Went to the intersquad college gymnastic meet Saturday and the girls had fun. They were totally fan girl it when they realized one of the gymnast's mom sat by them. They took lots of video and was watching them on the drive home.
Sunday I was wiped, and DD convinced DH to let me sleep until noon! We had a very lazy day.
This week is pretty crazy with dentist's appointments, car appointments, and I need to wrap DD's gifts during practice this week.
186momx , now that all our flu shots are done, I'm trying to talk myself into getting the bivalent Covid booster. But I feel like complete and utter crap after the shots, and I really don't want to put myself through it. But I need to do it, right? But I really really don't want to.
waverly, I kept putting it off for that reason. The county set up a clinic at the local mall and they only operate Thursday-Sunday in the afternoon/evenings. I took advantage of DD's 3-day weekend. I kind of felt like I needed to get it before tax season started and I go from seeing no one to tons of people. They were out of flu shots so I don't know if I will end up with one. Those also make me feel yucky.
186momx , We don't have any reactions to the flu shot except for the sore arm. Icing it helps me a lot.
But with the Covid shot is it full on freezing, chills, sweats, headache and body aches for 36 hours for me. We had Covid in Sept, Flu A in Oct, and a bad cold (which I am calling RSV) for Nov, so I feel like I should be good the rest of the year ha, probably not. Since we already had everything in the tripledemic.

This is me. I keep trying to schedule a time I can take a bad reaction in my schedule, but am having a hard time finding it.
I had a packed weekend. Girls Christmas PJ party Friday. Ages 19 to 73. 31 women playing dirty santa git got pretty cut throat.
Saturday, Dd talked us into making a double batch of homemade Christmas cookies and homemade pizza. I'm probably going to have to do another double batch when Ds gets home. Sunday, dd and I made candy with friends.
This week is rough. Staff meeting today with potluck. We had several things to discuss. A couple of big coalition planning meetings. Plus Thursday, I am leading the strategic planning retreat with all supervisors. I'm already readt for Friday.
Plus I am probably going to gain 10 lbs with the cookies. candies, lunches and Dd wants to celebrate the end of the semester with dinner tonight.
Ps. Dd made an 87 in her anatomy class with a very aggressive teacher. An A in psychology and A in English II. I'm pretty proud of the persuasive paper WE both wrote on the need for the US to adopt paid parental leave.
rere and waverly , me too on finding a time when I can basically have the flu for a day or two.
It’s a crazy week. Everyone including me is trying to cram in everything before we all try to take leave the last 2 weeks of the year. My company is moving to unlimited PTO and converting current PTO into stock that vests 4 years from now so we are all taking as much as possible before Dec 31.
This weekend was my birthday. We had a really good dinner out as a family and DD had a friend over to make a quilt for their history teach whom they adore. Andi worked on Sunday because see above re: trying to finish all the things before we leave.
I totally overdid it last Wednesday-Sunday. Wednesday was a work trip with a 6:40 am flight. Thursday night I helped host a holiday party for people in my industry in LA. It took me 4 hours in traffic to get there, which was awful. Stayed over and drove back Friday (only 2 hours) then got DD to softball practice and watched our friends’ flag football championship.
Both Saturday and Sunday, DD had to be at a softball tournament 45 minutes away at 6:30 am, for 7:30 am games. So that equaled a 5:45 am departure both days. Saturday night was also the only huge kid-free party we go to every year.
Add in me having a seemingly never ending cold and continuing to lose my voice on and off and I’m super worn down. The good news is that no one else in my household has gotten the cold, so I don’t think I’m very contagious, and many COVID tests have confirmed it’s not that.
I was planning to go to the office today, but last night while bending over to wash my face (of all things) I tweaked my back. I think it was my body telling me something. So I slept 9+ hours last night, worked from bed most of the day and also took a nap, and now I’m feeling better. I have another pretty crazy Wednesday-Sunday this week and I’m going to try really hard not to overdo it!
