I tried to order DS a Bingo stuffed animal today. Apparently very few places sell this, none of the big retail stores have it. Amazon seems to be the main place to get one and it won't arrive until after Christmas. So much for that Prime stuff.
Oh well. I only learned his favorite is Bingo last night. Santa is bringing him a talking Bluey, he will just have to be amused by that. I'll try to stop by at places that sell little plush toys like CVS or Hallmark or the grocery store to see if I can find Bingo.
Santa is bringing DD an Instant camera. Now that item was available for next day delivery and available in retail stores, phew! Though I despise Amazon, they actually had the best bundle so Santa picked it up with some refill packs.
Since Santa can't fit a toy kitchen in his sleigh, I told DS that present would be from me. I ordered one for DS back in October. Three giant boxes for this kitchen have been in my living room since October and need to be assembled. What's funny is they say "KITCHEN" on them but DS can't read. He asked what they were for the first few days but then lost interest. There was a mom selling one locally and when I showed DS the picture of her set vs the one from Sam's Club, he very clearly preferred the Sam's Club one. Ugh toy assembly, send lots of wine.
I am so behind but starting to catch up. I did a terrible job keeping track of what I bought for DD this year so she's going to end up with too much stuff. Thankfully she's at the age where she asks for things like clothes so at least a good bit of it is stuff I would have bought her anyway. Meanwhile, I'm just starting on buying for pretty much everyone else.
DH and I haven't done stockings for each other since DD was born but we are doing them this year! I'm excited. Santa fills our stockings as far as DD knows so I went ahead and bought myself a few things at Sephora for my stocking. DH has things for me but wouldn't have a clue at Sephora so I treated myself. I'm excited! I love all the little things in stockings.
I am pretty much done. My H drives me crazy though, I make my list and start buying in October so I'm basically done by early December. Every year a few days before Christmas he goes "oh but I didn't buy the kids anything..." And then will go and get them random crap and spend so much since it's days before Christmas. But then he also says that all presents are from Santa, which I do not abide by or agree to lol. We're a mess at Christmas.
Anyways, all that ranting to say I'm basically done ha. We don't buy for any extended family so it's pretty easy.
I had no idea my H had a long lost brother! I swear, every year we have this conversation and every year he panic buys at the last minute and says “but it’s Christmas” like I’m some kind of Grinch. We do both Hanukkah and Christmas, so there’s already a lot of stuff, and then he buys even more. I did convince him to let me keep a few things back for his birthday in a few months.
krystee We bought two National Geographic science sets at Barnes & Noble. One is a gross chemistry set and the other is spy science.
My kid is very afraid she’s only getting clothes this year. I have no idea where any of this came from as it’s never been an issue. She said no clothes at all, but I did get her some HP stuff and more nightgowns because that’s her current PJ preference.
She also suddenly hates legos and I have the freaking Hogwarts castle wrapped waiting for Christmas. So yay?
Santa gifts are unwrapped and we decided he will be giving the AG ice cream cart and a couple other small things.

We took our daughter to the American Girl Doll Store yesterday and over spent our budget by double. My H and I had a comical experience over prices/need for the large camper and bought without either of us actually wanting it. It was way out of our price range but we got our daughter all excited for it so here we are. I’m going to return a bunch of random things I bought on Amazon. It won’t make up the difference in price but she really loves it and takes amazing care of her toys.
We don’t “do” Santa and celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas so this will be her main gift for both holidays.
Blue Moon, FYI the gymnastics bars resale really good once she outgrows it.
ssmjlm, my 11yr DD also said she bets she will only get clothes but then agreed that she is in need of new clothes. She has grown over a foot in the last year so lots of her stuff just doesn't fit right. "Santa" is bringing the fancy flower lego kit and a glow in the dark comfy because she outgrew her kid one. The only other things that aren't toys are a belt, and makeup bag with some random beauty stuff in it.
Every year we exchange gifts with DH's aunt and uncle and every year we have no idea what to get DH's uncle. I hate to suggest we stop exchanging with them... this is DH's mom's sister and she has lost both of her siblings in the past 5 years and her mom a few years before that. They are kind and generous. DH's family have all have always bought for each other and I don't want to ask her to change one of the few things that hasn't changed as their Christmas celebration has gone from a huge, crazy group to just my family of 3 and her family of 4 in the last few years. But her DH, while pretty cool, doesn't really have any hobbies and they have plenty of money so every year we are at a loss as to what to get for him. DH is semi-helpful but is both extremely busy and a terrible gift giver.
I finally went through everything we had and folks had sent us yesterday. Everything is wrapped and ready except for items for stockings and the Santa gifts. Whewwww. Being a mom is so fun 🤣
DD is obsessed with dolls and picked out this Truly Me AG doll that looked like her for Christmas. It had brown hair, tan skin and brown eyes. She is biracial so finding a doll that looks like her is a bit hard. The doll was sold out in store so I ordered it online and was sent the wrong doll, this one had dark brown hair and green eyes. I called them and they said they would be sending a replacement free of charge and to just return the other one in store. The replacement came and it was the wrong doll, again. I called them again, they believe the barcodes were swapped for the 2 dolls and the one we want is sold out. They ended up having another doll in stock that looks even more like DD (they did not have this one on display at our local store) and DH picked up another similar doll just incase we get a different one again. They rushed it so it should be there tomorrow. I had 4 of these dolls in my house with another one coming in the mail lol. We returned 2 today and will decide once whichever one comes in the mail from the store. We have an extra AG doll we did not pay for, I might just keep it and give it to DD for her birthday lol.
We ordered DS a metal fusion Beyblades set off Amazon and when they arrived we discovered it’s fake so we have that to return. I’m planning to hit Walmart tomorrow to get him one more thing to open (was supposed to be the Beyblades) and then I’m done. I wrapped everything else today so I can be done early in case DS ends up with a snow day at the end of the week.
I just panic bought a hoverboard for my 8 year old. My youngest 3 are all getting new bikes because they’ve outgrown/hand me downs falling apart, but my oldest’s bike is newish and fits her. We are going away for Christmas so these big gifts will be waiting for when we get home, but I know she would have been EMOTIONAL about not having anything waiting for her even though she is getting the Heelys she asked for on Christmas Day. She’s the oldest but lately has been crying and freaking out about silly stuff way more than her younger sisters and I just don’t have the energy to deal with it right now.
